These are of my kid on his 2nd cross race. I was not there. I posted elsewhere.
These were the Siena Park - near Denver races November.
Top two photos taken by and purchased from Shawn Currey
Last by college mate dad John Lynn.

Cycling activity gets him off campus (base). So while it would be logical to narrow focus, by doing more disciplines he gets to go to 7 nationals in 2018 and a few other events vs having to attend the football games and do push-ups. So while doing better always matters, it is primarily fun.

First CX of the year. Really good one to start with. short 1mi course with about 60% being pretty roadie power friendly. I was seeded 15 and finished 12th in Cat 5 (stand alone Cat5 was great)

While we love our new indoor velodrome, we still give our oldest velodrome some love by holding a Cross race there. Fortunately for me, most racers didn't seem to know how to utilize the velodrome properly, so I always passed 2-3 riders in that 200 meters (Photo of one of my team mates).

A couple from the first few races in the PNW of the season. Anyone coming to Seattle for Nats this year?

Awesome, where is that?
looking at Strava, its like I hit a turbo button on the velodrome section. We come flying over the top, then down to the infield 200 meters later. Most people dive in too low too fast (although the cat 1-2 tend to ride around the outside and not dive down for some reason). But a velodrome can be one long downhill if you play your cards right. In a race where I was typically going 10mph, my speed regularly hit 25mph in the velodrome.

The first two Cross Crusade races were there and USAC sanctioned. I think its known for pretty technical off camber racing. This year it was dry though so no big deal really.

Me and my shadow.
Dropping off the old velodrome at 25mph and into the grass. Looks like I'm on my own, but with the speed I took around the velodrome (and into the next 2 corners) I'm about to pass the guy in front of me. ;-)
Me and my shadow. Cross and velodrome - to of my favorites...
