Temperature was someone normal this morning. I felt better than I have in a while. Didn’t break any speed records but felt like my old self.

Both my kneecaps hurt today. I guess I'll have to stay off the bike for 24h.
This is a first for me. Back when I was hot and heavy on the bike, at around 90 min into a ride my right knee would hurt on the side. I got a fit, and that went away. Hopefully this is just "getting back on the bike" pain that will go away if I rest a bit in between.

11.6 miles today felt ok considering I forgot to take my pain med yesterday which makes it twice this week. Decided to see how bad it would be without it. A little ouchy. About to take it now. had to wait 2 hours after I took another pill that could affect this medication. I'm all mixed up lately. Suspected poison ivy rash nearly gone as I approach 2 weeks of using the medicated goo. I'm probably a little short of podium status.

Nope. Rode to a pancake breakfast in a dinky town, probably less than 75 people, that at onetime was a going concern but the demise of the railroads (used to be three RRs in town) and the interstates have passed it by, but they still do breakfast once a month in the Allentown Union Hall built in 1892.
Here's a pick of the Hall and also a pic of the 'pick' of pumpkins for VV:

Sad day for my club. I got to starting spot a bit early for the 8:15 A- ride. I saw some friends getting ready to leave for their 8AM B+ ride. We were chatting bikes and at about 8:12 my phone rang, the ride leader said bad crash 3 miles into their ride. I rushed to the spot and luckily ambulances already there. Two riders down. Both conscious but one with major facial trauma/laceration and other with obvious wrist/forearm fracture. There was about a unit of blood on the tarmac. I asked the EMTs if they needed my help but of course they had everything under control, got the riders in c-spine support, on boards, and to the closest trauma center. My friends on the A- ride came by and said they were gonna do their ride. I stayed a couple more minutes until injured were loaded up, then rode solo super hard to try to catch my group.
After pushing hard for 45 minutes and getting faked out (I saw a group in front of me that ended up being yet another different group), I settled down into a more sustainable pace. I figured I could take a shortcut to the rest stop and meet my group there. About 15 minutes later I heard people yelling from behind, it was my group! It turned out they had to backtrack a mile to not pass the ambulances, so I was actually in front of them. I may have to watch the cartoon on Strava “flyby.”
Anyway after the ride I checked on the injured. The woman with the facial injuries was sent downtown to Jefferson since her injuries require university level care, she will be ok but will need major facial surgery and MIGHT lose one eye. I hope not. Other rider will need surgery for radual/ulnar fractures but otherwise is ok.

Oh, I asked afterwards what happened. Apparently an oncoming driver turned left into the group. The leader was at the front and did not see it directly, but apparently driver took a wide turn too soon, taking out the two women. I don’t know if they were the last two but am guessing so. Sad!
