My thing with old bikes now is like my thing with old watches - they're SO CHEAP for what you get, if you know how to work on them! But what stops me on the bikes is that my 9 bikes take up about a 7'x7'x7' cube, whereas I have at least 100 watches in 6 smallish dresser drawers, with room for more.

I have two Rapha merino sweaters - they're among my favorite articles of clothing. I wish they still made that particular series; I never did get my hands on the button-down version, despite ordering it three times. They did just release a new sweater, but it's got a synthetic wind block panel on the chest and... meh.

I wonder if they might build a short section "bike path" that goes wide of the road and comes across perpendicular, on each side, though. Hmmm.....

From what I've been able to research that's exactly what happened. I understand the '19 model had the mast cap whereas the '20 has the internal mast. Regardless, I have not been able to find a 7 X 9 set of ears that fits the '20 model, and the shop tells me there is no such thing.

My brother's been outfitting his family with vintage Schwinns. He's currently refurbing a 70s era Suburban for his wife.

It stopped raining long enough for me to ride down to the coffee shop to grab a bag of beans and have an espresso.
Facing North. The woods where the wind blows our fallen leaves is in the background.

A few years ago, one of the guys in my club came across a vintage steel Japanese bike that was locked up off the beaten path. He checked in on it for the better part of the year and then, with winter looming, he decided to liberate it and leave a note. It never did get claimed, so he cleaned it up and uses it for casual rides. It is very dapper with original root beer-ish paint and the new saddle and hammered fenders. I'd love to find something like that - I'm

Yeah, there's not a lot of interchangeability among my bikes. The way I define my collecting drives it in the opposite direction, because I don't want redundancy. So, no two bikes have the same groupset.

My take on old road bikes is, if it was a good bike in 1982, and it's working as well as it was in 1982, then it's still a good bike. There may be newer, lighter, faster, more ergonomic bikes, but a 1982 high-end racing bike was built to ride and ride fast, so that's what I try to do. When I go out on them, I don't baby them.

Ha - yeah, we're pretty much coming from exactly opposite sides: ideally, I'd like redundancy of parts but not of purpose, whereas you've got redundancy of purpose but not of parts.

I can't quite remember the size, but we have a really lovely Time Urbain in the shop that would fit that role nicely. It's even 11 speed Shimano! ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

It kind of reminds me of the old Trek District Carbon with Gates drive (man, did I want one of those). Out of curiosity, does it have any nods to the practical, like fender or rack mounts?

Left knee is starting to hurt when I pedal. I adjusted cleat position helped a little bit. Almost feels like something is rubbing……
Should I ice it?
