have you checked the facilitators thread for someone in Orange County? Also sometimes if you contact the seller they will ship but I am just going to guess this guy might not... By the looks of that bike anyways

I considered a BF facilitator, but the last thing I need to do right now is tell my wife I just spent several hundred dollars on another bike. I value my marriage too much. I'm gonna hold out for a Superior.

No disrespect, but is it just me or is it hard to respect a bike as a professional/high end competitor when it has turkey bars and stem shifting?!

it is just a matter of how bikes were made/specced then. centerpull brakes were once top notch, the sidepulls now standard sidepulls get tossed in the trash in favor of daulpivots.

I emailed the seller, have not heard back yet. He's probably five miles from me. That frame is a minimum 25". I can facilitate but it could be gone already!

Vintage Italian SOMEC 1980's road bike, 53.5cm - $900 (Andover)

Date: 2010-09-13, 2:41PM EDT
Reply to: sale-vxxqw-1951899302@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This is a vintage SOMEC from the mid 80's. SOMEC, for those who are unfamiliar with the brand, is a tiny, rare, and very high-end workshop collective in Lugo, Italy. There are estimated to be fewer than 500 SOMECs in the country and the company has produced fewer bikes in its entire history than Trek produces every month.

I got this frame a few years ago and decided to rebuild it. The paint was bad and the decals were gone, but there were no dents and no rust, because the entire frame is chromed. I called up the factory in Italy and they sent me a new set of decals (the real thing, not reproductions.)

The parts are all-Italian (meaning, Campagnolo) and nearly all period-correct.

The Specs:

The frame is Columbus steel, 53.3cm x 53.5

Headset: Campagnolo Record
Brakes: Campagnolo Athena (1989)
Cranks, Bottom Bracket, Derailleurs, Shifters: Campagnolo Victory (1988)

Wheels: Campagnolo Record 7-speed hubs laced to Ambrosio Montreal rims (built by the famous Harris Cyclery in West Newton)

Stem is 3ttt, Handlebars are Cinelli, Saddle is a San Marco Rolls, Seatpost is Deda.

It's all tuned-up, in perfect condition, and ready to ride. If you've ever wanted to try vintage Italian steel but didn't want to ride something that's been beaten to death or didn't want to hunt around for the vintage parts, then this is for you.

If you're interested, you can email me or call me at 781.775.3577.
Thanks.

Motobecane in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Looks a bit small for me, and priced a bit beyond my unemployed budget when considering the seller's description. I emailed for more info but haven't heard back yet.

Jump on it if you want it.

1975 silvery/powder blue frame, suntour derailers, original cloth handlebar tape in good condition with motobecane tube plugs on the handle bars.
Spokes are rusty and there some scrahes. It was outside for awhile so the cable housing needs maintence or replacing. Brakes still work, but derailer cable housing is stuck. Drailers still move ok.
Tires are holding air, but in poor shape.
Looking for buyer who understands what a find this is and will pay the fair price.

RARE Bianchi X4 Italian road bike - $800 (Malden)
There is already a thread going about this very bike and the jerk selling it. As BG notes, it's not a $600 profit, it's the original seller raising the price. And not getting it, since (we all agree) it's not worth what he's asking. (Plus, he's a tool.) Why give this loser of a seller any more attention?
