If there was an indoor track around here... I'd be there every chance I could. Like live there outside of work. I'd be there 4 or 5 hours a day on my free days. I'd do that if I could for karting, but it costs so much money I can't afford it. But when the local (1.5 hour away) place had all-you-can-drive per day day, I'd do 3-4-5- hours on the days I felt comfortable coughing up the money.

I'm just so tired. Whole family started feeling rough yesterday, was properly sick last night, and feels like **** today. Probably a cold (we get sick literally every single time we see a particular niece and nephew), but my wife is starting a bit of a fever (kids have fevers, but they get fevers pretty often, even if they're not really sick so it's hard to use them as an example). Decided not to go see family today (although we almost certainly got whatever it is from them).
Would love to test us all for covid just to have the peace of mind, but it's impossible. No at home tests available anywhere, no testing appointments for days. I'm just so tired of all of it. With my wife being pregnant we have to be extra careful, her doctor didn't think she needed a test unless she gets worse or it lasts a while, but would be nice to know.
And there were no saltines at the store. There's always something I want that I can't get, ever since Covid started. I took for granted that the grocery store would always be stocked.

Thanks. Kids are both doing fine, my fever and chills came with a vengeance overnight and through half of today, but I'm definitely getting better. Wife's fever is gone but she's still super congested. I think we'll all be fine though. I think Omicron is likely, I have a test scheduled for tomorrow morning for just me since I was sickest when I scheduled (earliest I could get) but at the rate I'm improving I'm not sure it'll show up.
It was actually less severe but lasted about twice as long as my response to my second vaccine (Moderna, I couldn't remember when I was that sick, but it only lasted 12 hours). My second vaccine was only 4 months ago, but doesn't seem to have done anything to help.

In related news some moron in my area put up a "Arrest Fauci and Gates" sign. Does he think we live in the US or that the Edmonton city police has some ability to arrest an advisor to the POTUS?
I reported it to the graffiti hotline. I did it once before when someone flew a Canada flag upside down. They remove that garbage quick.

Seriously? Sometimes, okay a lot of the time lately, the USA confuses me. I have 4 rapid tests just sitting here because they hand out 5 packs for free at any drug store.

I did get a test for today after lots of looking, rapid PCR, negative for Covid-19 and a whole bunch of other stuff (like flus and adenovirus and stuff I didn't realize they were testing for), positive for OC43, which is apparently responsible for a good portion of common cold. So, we all have a cold just a relatively bad one that's still lingering. $225 here for that test lol. And insurance doesn't cover most of it (what exactly do I pay them $15k a year in premiums for?).

We got our first snow in the 2 weeks we've been in CO ~ 5" this morning. Junior is off skiing with some of his ex-LUX teammates - 4 cyclists and a few not.
My wife and I were doing a walk through Garden of the Gods (100 yards from our place) and she wanted to extend it. I decided to run home and keep my pea coat on and get the bike.
I got to pull out my studded tires - that is Jan 1, 2022 snow on them.

I've been stuffed up since CX nationals. Chalked it all up to being outside in the cold and wind for over a week. It's ben dragging on. Definitely not like the COVID I had last year. Looked all over for tests on multiple days in multiple cities and multiple states. Nothing. Went to visit my father and family. The nieces that came in seemed sick and were coughing... great. Said they had been tested and were negative for covid. My wife is an RN/manager in an immediate care facility that went from seeing about 50 patients on a busy day to seeing 120-150 a day for the last few weeks. Almost all are positive. The odds we don't or haven't had Omicron is probably Zero but it didn't lay us up. No fever, etc.
Good friend and his wife came back from Iceland to visit. We saw them on new years eve. He just called from Iceland - his and her tests getting back in to the country were positive. "Oh well. I get to sit at home while they monitor us in this socialist state. Feel fine."
It's burning through the population quickly. That's why all the guidance has been changing. There's really no stopping it. Be smart and take precautions for others. I fear the best we can hope for is that this burns through whomever it's going to within the next 2 weeks then drops off.

Psimet2001 I hope you guys are feeling better. I heard something where vaccinated people aren't testing positive when they first have symptoms, but test positive later after they have died down. Has something to do with the antibodies, so good idea to assume you have it.

My daughter had omicron over the break. We assume it was: she tested positive for CV on a home test, and confirmed on a PCR test. Symptoms were relatively mild: 1 day of fever, a week of fatigue and flu-ishness, and a cough that keeps hanging around. Worst part was having to isolate for most of her holiday break. And now my goddaughter has it. Similar situation with her. I'm mostly worried about the grandparents. They're all boosted and take a lot of precautions, but this strain seems so incredibly contagious and a lot of folks have just gotten tired of masking and physical distancing. I'm tired too, but I'd really like my folks to live to see their grandkids graduate.

out walking the earth
We were supposed to head to Florida this week, but canceled. Yeah we'd be camping, and outside most of the time. But we'd still need to do the truck stop restroom breaks, and showering and using the bathrooms in the campgrounds. In the end it just didn't seem necessary to go so we'll just keep hangin in the north country for now.
