The best part of our Saturday shop ride is a long and slightly curvy descent with good pavement & sightlines. 40 is easy, if you can spin quickly enough there's room to go faster.

On today’s ride, we were going down a fairly steep descent at about 45mph. I am a wussy descender so was about 10 feet off the back, but at some point near the end of the descent I saw everyone slow down by a few MPH. I did not witness this, but apparently one rider had severe front wheel wobble and said he was close to going down. I am guessing this was a driven/sympathetic vibration at a specific resonant frequency, but thankfully have never experienced it. Anyone know about this??
One of the tow trucks I used to drive did it so violently it would almost yank the steering wheel out of my hands. I've also had speed wobble in a number of customer cars. Sometimes it's hard to figure out where they are going. I think my first motorcycle did it a few times.

To bring a few things together, the old first-get Miatas would get speed wobble at 60-65mph if they didn't have perfectly-balanced tires.

I've seen 54 on the speedometer when I used to use a speedometer. In my old age I worry a lot more so I don't let it go as often. If people want to bomb a twisty descent I am happy to get out of the way. I've been known to get a little carried away on the mtb at times but I've tried to dial it back after hitting the ground in 2020.

Just average for me. Hopefully the rest of the day is up to this. Just trying to sneak through a short week until leaving on Friday afternoon to Boulder for my mother's hip replacement, which is a week from today.

Something that’s taking some getting used to on the new full suspension is how much faster the bike is over rough terrain, I scared myself a couple of times on the first ride when the brakes were still getting bedded in

It's a good thing I keep instant coffee in the house. Awoke to no power. The wife says it's been out since 9 last night.

I don't know if I've seen 50... I hit the mid-40s pretty regularly, but there's not much steep enough around here for 50. Well, I can think of one hill, off of the top of my head, but there's an intersection right at the bottom of the hill and you wouldn't want to barrel in to it.

I generally coast these at my age but I still go 40+ with little or no work.

We are due for rolling power outages across this part of the country anyway. They struggle with it consistently. Natural gas coming from across the gulf. Our socialist president is dead set against renewables, and the power company and oil company are nationalized

Slow morning. Must be due to the power outages. I guess I'll go for a ride.

I logged 44 on a bike many years ago. I have never had any desire to do it again.
