Shoots you out the top in case of an emergency. You usually wear a parachute when riding those elevators, right?

In many areas where earthquakes are prevalent, elevators are equipped with an earthquake button. When pressed during an earthquake, the elevator is immediately sent to the nearest floor and the doors open up. It is a security precaution, as being in an elevator during an earthquake can be very dangerous.

You would think, it would be a little bit more clearer. Not sure if I would think to push that if the earth started moving.

My UX guy would have a fit. You shouldn’t have to read small text like that in an emergency, and the function should be clear. That’d be useless to me and clearly many others in an earthquake. Compare and contrast with the ubiquity and training from childhood about fire alarms and the like.

Went for a ride with 2 friends. The wind was whipping here so we drove near the Rose Bowl and rode in the shadow of the San Gabriel mountains. It was nice and my friend insisted on getting pizza by the slice at half way. Like big, sourdough crust slices laden with cheese and pepperoni. He was buying, so what could we say?
It was pretty good and didn't hurt too much on the climbs later.
He also told me the impatient guy was pissed that I was invited on the ride this past Saturday. Apparently, I'm not "strong enough" to be invited on those rides, even though I didn't get dropped and wasn't the slowest on every section.

Once in about 1981, there was an early morning earthquake in Boston. That afternoon, future LSS and I were walking across the MIT campus after a few games of squash and were accosted by a local TV news team asking where we were when the quake hit. LSS, without a beat of hesitation, says, “I was in bed with my boyfriend and I felt the earth move.” Yes, they used the tape.
Edit: 5 April 1981, to be exact.

Oh boy. I had a feeling we were going to get such a treat earlier this year. Luckily the 4th gallon of Liquid Plumber did the trick.
