After missing a commute day on Wednesday due to snow, and spending a good deal of time slipping/sliding my way home on Friday evening, I broke down and bought studded tires today. They are Kenda Klondikes - I intended to buy Nokians but the shop was out and offered these to me instead. I figured I would give them a try, especially since I had them mount them on an additional wheelset, so I don't need to run them full-time. The only downside is that I got a 40mm for the back and my existing PB fender wouldn't fit - so I had to remove it and reinstall a cheesy seat post fender. If this becomes an issue I may seek out on of the new Nokian A10 tires in a 32mm, as they are much shorter/thinner.

I use a trike for winter riding. It won't go through a ton of snow or anything, but I can ride comfortably when it is pretty darn cold out for quite a distance. mine is the not yet painted pink bike.
I'm posting my summer ride as well to demonstrate slow bike vs fast bike.

Have you checked out the regional subforums? It's a good place to find a riding buddy.

Yes, yes, wrong side. But the drive train on my bike isn't very interesting anyways.
And if you want to see more of it, just check my Miyata album.
Miyata 600 series.
28/38/48 triple crank, 14-16-18-21-25-28 cassette.
Tektro R100 levers
Nokian Hakkappellitta W106 700x35
PB Freddy fenders + Bolt on mud flaps.
Tons of weight on the front with krypto lock, 3 lights and racks to keep the front wheel from floating in soft snow as much as possible.

I figured out you can't put loaded panniers on the front on windy days. Too hard to control.
The rear gets enough weight from me and the pannier as it is, so it's just some load balancing.

I just finished building up this bike. It will be my do it all bike for superlight touring, winter riding and go anywhere treks.
This Leader frame is really nice and was a really good price. The fork is also a Leader carbon fiber fork.
