We required both of our kids to live in a shared dorm room their freshman years as we thought it would be a good experience for them to have to share, etc. When we dropped off our daughter, she and her roommate (who were friends from earlier schooling) sat on their beds and cried because of the lack of space they were going to have to share. Seems the little princesses were just too spoiled before that. When my wife and I got in the car, we had a good laugh.

Strange how things work out. I wanted to move to a smaller house with a larger garage. So I would have more shop space for the cars. Now with this new administrations politics, I might not have anything to work on to need the shop space for. The prediction for $5.00 a gallon is just to much for me. And premium is even higher. Time to cash in my chips and walk away from the table.

But the EIA thinks we won't have to worry for at least two years...
EIA forecasts gasoline prices to average $2.44/gal in 2021 and $2.46/gal in 2022

My inferior rear wheel had to be replaced during my 1999 cross country trip. We were in Bowling Green, OH, where we had a day off. A LBS replaced it with a rear wheel from a tandem. 48H. Our leader at the times joked that I now had a disc wheel.
I saw no bowling greens in Bowling Green. It was also one of the worst places we camped. Private campground down a berm from a busy highway. So many people who saw our group of bikes and tents would honk encouragement at us. I think I have a photo at home. Will try to post it.
But, interestingly, it was the place where some odd dude rode into camp during our rest day. He was from Horsham, PA and was trying to circumnavigate the country. I had lost my voice for some reason. Could only says a few sentences in a row and then had to give it a rest. Dude swore that me new me. Kept asking me if I had done this ride or that ride. He was really starting to piss me off. Then he asks "Did you ever do that ride to New York?" and it all came back in a flood. The previous year we had both done the ride. We were on the same ferry from Hoboken to Manhattan. That evening he was part of a group of about 6 who had dinner together by the Brooklyn Bridge. Small world.

The Cannondale project is stalled, waiting for the BB. It left Florida on the 20th. USPS claims it's still in transit to the next destination, but I'm growing suspicious. I'm also still waiting on the 8speed righthand shifter lever (my old one's 7 speed) from Italy, which supposedly reached customs/USPS on the 16th and hasn't been heard from since.
Meanwhile, I'm accumulating all the bits. I ran into an issue with tires. I'd planned to use a pair of 23mm Conti Grand Prix's from maybe 10 years ago that seemed in pretty good shape - barely used since I started running 25s on everything. I went to swap them on to the rims I want to use, and damned if one of them didn't have a casing cut. I thought maybe it would be okay, but probing from the inside, it was clearly a weak spot. So, since I no longer have a matched set of tires I just went ahead and ordered a pair of 25mm tires, foregoing the "Vintage Look" of 23s on an already fairly harsh-riding bike.
I'm so impatient for the BB, I'm on the verge of ordering another one from a different seller, but given my luck as soon as it's shipped the first one will come in.
Hmmmm. Maybe there's something to that, leveraging my bad luck to get what I want.....

Thou shat not dis the Milkmen. R.I.P. Dave Blood. And the song is meant to mock a certain demographic.
I saw them at frat (DU) across the street from my college house on 39th & Spruce before they became famous. Also saw Electric Love Muffin, the Del Fuegos and some local DJ named Jazzy Jeff, before he became famous, there. Those were the days.

Me too. Every Sunday, when it's sunny, the Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc. come out to play in Woodside and Portola Valley. Last weekend, I was passed by a really loud Ford GT. But the closest I get to them is maybe 6' as they pass by.

Yeah, the Potomac, MD dads like to roar around on the back roads too. They do tend to give cyclists room, but at those speeds, it doesn't seem like a lot.

Wife and I are volunteering at a vaccination clinic on Sunday in a rural county nearby. Just found out that if there are leftover doses we will get one. If not, we’re still eligible to sign up for an appointment.

I got passed by a Lamborghini club a couple of Sundays ago, just after I had turned onto US 93 proper, north of Las Vegas. I should've tried to keep up with them in the base model Jetta

There's not really much room for them to play on those roads, so they tend to do a lot of not shifting out of first or second, so they make more noise.

Hey, Lambos and Jettas are both VW/Porsche/Audi products now, right? They're like cousins!

That's the one I have not seen in the flesh - a Bugatti. I'm certain there must be some around here.
Ferraris, Lambos, Maseratis are pretty common hereabouts, so I tend to get more of a kick out of seeing things like the Citroen 2CV I saw a couple weeks back. There's somebody with a Mini Cooper - the original version, the really small kind, with fog lights and all - that parks where the cyclists all park, I've seen that car a bit, so I suspect it's another cyclist. I can't imagine how you put a bike in one, but then, they're like the Tardis on Dr. Who - bigger on the inside.
