Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

These are two photos from today's group ride. They said it was going to be a ride in the mountains, but in reality it was just rolling hills. Even so we had to drive for two hours out of Bangkok to the privince of Ratchaburi to find anything resembling hills. We road for thirty km up the road and then turned around and went back. These photos are from the rest stop at the half way point.

This was my first time riding hills and I loved every moment of it, even when the fitter guys took off ahead of me out of sight.

Oh God how I hate chicken farms. Worked on a very large one in high school. My parents would fight over whose turn it was to pick me up I smelled so bad.

I was just in Escalante, UT for a backpacking trip, but unfortunately I didn't have enough time to pull over in the car to take pictures of the beautiful mountain and desert roads we encountered.
Here's one from inside the car (I was a passenger in the backseat):

Here's one near Vail:

We did that last year. It was great. Although my daughter wasn't too happy about using a sit on top kayak with a bunch of gators around.

Wish that one had been empty of cars...

I rode Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO for the first time today. It was really cold, as you can see by the frozen trees.
