Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Welp, I've lollygagged long enough. Taking the dogs for a short walk, to aid digestion; then off for a ride before it gets too warm.

Here in Mexico, you can get any model you want with manual. Still way more popular than auto.

You can't get that in a base trim level car.
Our 2017 SportWagen S has heated seats and a 6-speed manual transmission.

I miss our TDI Sportwagen.

All Dieselgate stuff aside that was a great driving car.

It was a 2014 SportWagen TDI (with manual) that I sold back to VW . The cargo capacity was OK - finding another wagon with a manual from someone *other* than VW was really hard, and I eventually gave in.

I like shifting my own gears, but the reality is autos and autosticks are getting to or at the point of being more efficient and providing better performance than the same car with a stick.

FWIW, my element is a stick and gets lower mpg than the automatic... mostly because in the Element the sticks came with what I think is too low of final drive for better acceleration... as if I care how well a vehicle shaped like a toaster accelerates.

In all honesty, I fail to see the hanging curve, but then I've never been into baseball. No need to explain it to me.

If I knew a good curler I would hire him or her to scrub my floors. They would be in and out in no time.
