is that a Gaulzetti frame? like the bike, though your handlebar could use a few more shades of pink

@echappist thanks! The frame was actually made by Frank The Welder the geo and look was inspired by the early 90s C-Dale Track bike.

all I can see in that picture is an air-attack WITH CYCLING CAP. Only for the fastest of Cross Races of Gravel Grinders.

You'd ridicule the cycling cap less if you lived someplace it rains frequently.

I don't know what's up with Matt in this case., short memory I guess.

not necessary for rain either. I started as a 5 in Seattle thinking caps were cool like everyone else, but eventually learned.

if you can see under the bill (and you need to, duh) then it's not really blocking you from being sprayed in the eyes by the rider in front of you.

rain coming down from above is generally blocked by your helmet and/or not really an issue.

and the bill isn't big enough to block the sun meaningfully.. that pretty much covers it!

in the (cat 3) rr I won it was raining and I forgot my glasses.. all I could do was squint to block the spray, yay for eyelashes. and no cap of course, not that it would've helped.

We've talked about this in the past and I think they're useful. Counterpoint: I've won a c3 rr in an Evade with a cap underneath. Head assplode!

i don't generally wear a cap but ... wut?

with an air attack you pretty much get full protection from rain (which is a nice thing in the spring for places that actually get precip, i suppose). the evade is not quite as good in that area but close.

my prevail has huge vents and if it is really raining, a cap would help. (i don't really race in the prevail so not an issue for me.)

the bill of a cap could block some falling rain from hitting a rider in the brow/dripping into the eyes, i guess. it's not all about the spray. i think the spray is the bigger deal for any real rain, and sometimes even sunglasses are useless.

My wife is currently taking photography classes and an e-commerce photography class with the intention of hosting a site and selling photos online.

It'll be more of a hobby, and we're not trying to make a huge profit, if any. In SoCal we rarely have any photographers at the lower category races, and since she's snapping photos of me racing, we may as well snap photos of everyone else.

from the last practice race, photo by the teammate's wife. guy in stripes goes on to win solo on a following attack after we were unable to get any rhythm and lost the gap I'd built. Should have been my day and I'm bitter about it, but he drive over to come pick me up when I busted my chain 2 days ago so I guess I will forgive him!

In the 4 practice crits @mattm and I did, the team took 1st 1st 3rd and 1st. The 3rd should have been a 1st, if not for someone falling out of a break with 3/4 a lap to go. Since I personally haven't put it together yet this year maybe I'll keep an album of my 25th place with a little ribbon next to it. Something to keep me feeling motivated!

The only thing that could make that more hipster would be if you were riding a single speed. But you do have the legs of a teen model.

From yesterdays race (pictures by Mrs Ferret) she took about 300 pics but I was on the opposite side and well tucked in so this is it:

Grey and Black kit with white / red stripes

Just finished closing a gap on a small 2%

Sometime during the race (shrug) in front of the zerg. I believe its two to go.

Please no fat jokes you'll make me cry and eat more.

Trying desperately to beat the guy out of frame to my left who beat me for 2nd place by a wheel. I took 3rd, teammate won. All those guys in the back sprinting on the hoods.

tell him if Adam hadn't disrupted he'd never have caught!

You didn't answer if the kids in the video were talking about me or someone else.

Adam is a great rider, but does not go to all the RR - too bad you missed his sprint! Yes - they were talking about you - the strongest rider in the race.

As far as puppy not catching you...we can talk about it when you beat his 14 year old Strava time up Palomar

I'll never beat my Palomar time with my ego so massive. Daniel was definitely crazy strong to make the bridge, anyway. I didn't commit to keeping him off, but didn't make it easy either. Would have been cool to end up with him 1-2 and not Adam just so I could get more screentime. I would have feigned cramps and made him pull for the whole way though.

It would have worked. And you are correct about screen time. We have two others for Chico, I hope you go.

Still looking at Snelling too. I like the bigger field because at this stage in his development following some big guys is easier for him to figure out what to do.
