A nice rider quality set of Superleggera pedals from @Brewsmith to replace my old ones on the Paramount. I broke the toe tab off my right one some 40 or so years back.
It'll be interesting to see if I can breathe some life into the Bindas. They're flexier than the ones in my bin...

Finally found an acceptable Arabesque 600 GS. I've been collecting the bits for a "Japanese farse retro" build. I wanted center pulls, so I have a set of Tourneys as place holders if I can't find Dura Aces's. Still need to find a compact crankset that will blend in...

I am fairly sure they were the same brakes. The Dura Ace version may or may not have had a nicer finish, but I wouldn't bother. The Tourney's work just fine.

I wanted another Dia Compe ENE front rack. They fit on several, if not most, centerpull calipers, and I am very happy with the one I have. And they are somewhat affordable, at least compared to other good-looking front rack alternatives.
They are getting harder to find, I noticed. Most suppliers seem to be out of stock. Anyway, I finally found a couple in Germany, which I received today:

One more Arabesque tangent... My knees prefer compact crank gearing. I've got a 110 bcd Super Maxy crank set as a place holder, but I think a Sugino 106 bcd Maxy crankset would be a good analog for the 3 pin Shimano 600 touring crankset. So far I have a NOS drive side 106 crank arm and a couple beat inner rings. Not a high priority, but I check for rings every time I get to a coop.

106 BCD chainrings are really hard to find in smaller sizes. If you want to go smaller than the 110 BCD 34T minimum, I'd suggest an 86 (SR, Stronglight) or a 50.4 (TA, Stronglight, Nervar, amongst others) BCD crankset. Rings for those are still being made, and a lot easier to find.
I've been adding to the "Arabesque-esque" box for a while. I think I'm close enough to start thinking about paint colors..

Those cranks often came branded for specific bicycle manufacturers. I've seen Raleigh and Motobecane versions, and I've got a Gazelle-branded set on my (wait for it ... ) Gazelle:

My new helmet arrived today.
On Oct. 4, I ran over a raccoon while doing laps in Prospect Park. No broken bones and the bike was fine. Minor road rash, but mostly stiff, sore muscles around my shoulder. The month since has been difficult for a variety of reasons, some related, others not. If I hadn't had a helmet on that night, I'm not exactly sure how bad things could've gone. Luckily, I was wearing a helmet, and it did its job perfectly. I went to REI the other week and they had the new version of the helmet (Smith Persist II) but an employee told me Smith was selling the 2022 version, which I'd been wearing when I crashed, for 50% off. $60, and a few days later, here we are! Tonight was my first ride since the crash, it felt good to be back on the bike.

Today I was blessed by the arrival of a few rust blooms on a 1973 bike. There are a few folks who think the bike is special, but it is just another bike. So I have gone to a group of metal finish specialists to see what can be done short of waiting for a catastrophic failure. Smiles, MH

I got a pair of gently used SKS fenders for $10 a short 2 miles from home.

Whether they do or don't, it is the way I have built up a useful collection of nice parts over the years. If I see stuff I like for little money, which I may need in the future, I tend to buy it. Worked well for me, so far.

Got in some silver bottle cages for the Pacenti bike as well as both orange and turquoise wolf tooth bolts. Planning on using the orange bolts to mount the bottle cages on the bike but have to figure out how to shorten them first. The bike requires short mounting bolts and I've never cut these down before. The orange bolts should compliment the orange decals and logos on the bike.
