The law business has changed a lot in my 38 years of practice, but things are not quite as dysfunctional as the medical industry. The one thing that probably saves us is we do not have to rely on insurance companies or third-party payors. I quit working for insurance companies (defending injury cases) in 1991, and never looked back.
Politics has f'ed up the law biz, especially if you practice in a state with elected judges. Federal court practice (which I now prefer) is not so bad, but there are some judges to watch out for.

I’ve never actually met my No. 1 cat sitter, but my recycling bins reveal some things about her dietary habits. She drinks a lot of Pepsi and stuff from Dunkin’. One time I found a receipt from CVS under my couch. She probably dropped it and it got blown under the couch by the heater. There was a 2L bottle of Pepsi on the receipt. I also found a McDonald’s bag in my trash one time.

Same with those that I know. Lots of frustration and dissatisfaction.

There is more to it than that, but yeah, the healthcare system is dysfunctional in many ways.

Okanagan Lake is full. Time to build Canada to AZ water pipelines instead of Canada to TX/LA oil pipelines.

Imagine if a paralegal could work autonomously or semi-autonomously and compete with you and say they can do "everything" a lawyer could do. That's a taste of noctors. Plus, imagine that your fees were capped at say, $100/hr, and that everyone got paid the same, including paralegals, because of a 3rd party payor system.
There is more to it than that, but yeah, the healthcare system is dysfunctional in many ways.

The fee issue is the reason I will not work for insurance companies. They have commoditized their work to the point where they are dictating that lawyers are paid very low rates or low flat rates per case, and I want nothing to do with that. A lot of the insurance defense lawyers are getting paid $100-150/hour and being told what they can and cannot do in the course of a case. No thank you.

The single speed needs new tires. Excel has a good special in these - Hutchinson Fusion 5 Performance Tire OE 2-Pack Excel Sports | Shop Online From Boulder Colorado
No experience with Hutchinsons, but it's a low risk opportunity to try them out.

I understand and get it, and also agree with you.

What's the annual membership fee? It's typically $1500 around here. As per previous posting, I understand that this is an option but it's a sucky one.

I had a great PCP at HUP who did that decades ago. I was sorry to have that happen. He was actually one of the top fundraisers in the MS City to Shore ride. The last time I saw him was when I passed him during the event several years ago.

The elimination of the 125 class signaled the death of 2 stroke bikes (and in some ways a slow death to motocross for the masses)
Recall one year Ron Lechien (?) had a factory liquid cooled 125 Yamaha - might have been the first liquid cooled motocross bike we saw ... and can't be positive - but it might have been a twin cylinder
Not long after this - liquid cooled RM125's began to appear ... Mark Barnett rode one - he was so much faster during qualifying at a Mid Ohio GP the officials thought they had a timing malfunction (they ran qualifying laps at the international GP races)
good times
