I am probably going to get the Raleigh crowd riled up but today a got a pair of three speeds, on road bike and one city bike from my co-op. They are all destined for the scrap yard unless someone speaks up for any of them. some pictures

Raleigh LTD 3. The SA three speed system is intact with shifter and cabling. If anyone wants just the hubs and shift parts PM me. It leaves Monday morning.

Same thing for a Gazelle all there complete with grime and patina.

Mid seventies frame fork and drive train. Old plastic Simplex that is long gone. Probably could be revived to 10 speed.
I did not get aa picture of the city bike but it is a step through with alloy cranks and cantilever brakes. Again these are all going to the scrap yard on Monday morning. PM if interested in any of it. Smiles, MH

Today I got two items in the mail. Step down ferrules for a build, and a rear mech from a BF member. Pics:

This one should be titled "No joy from Dejoy". I ordered these from Lancaster, PA on the 27th of last month, and they came today. Two weeks by the USPS to travel about 600 miles. Lots of ship to next destination and then wait two days before moving again.

A nice rear derailleur, from another BF member. Fodder for the Rossin that has yet to get into the build line-up.

Another no joy from Dejoy, item dispatched from Austrailia May 31st, accepted and processed through Perth facility to USPS, no progress since.

It will be 2 weeks day after tomorrow, this is the second item, the first one a month ago came in 3 days start to finish.

Finally some movement, made it to Sydney, maybe it will make it out of Oz after 2 weeks.

It has been in the USPS system from the start and customs is probably the reason for delay.

When I was a young lad of about 11, I got it in my head that I wanted to leave my bmx days behind and get into road cycling. Fast-forward to age 13 after a couple years of working odd jobs and saving every penny, my family took a trip to France. I brought all the money I had in order to purchase bike parts and later come back to buy a frame and build my first race bike. Among the parts that I brought back from the continent were a pair of Galli Top Crit tubular rims that would get built into my first set of race wheels. I beat up those rims pretty good. At one point, I even rolled a tubular which wedged between the rim and chain stay. I skidded on the bare rim until I could come to a stop, miraculously staying upright, although leaving a flat spot on the rear rim. Soon after that, I retired the rims, but still have them and use them for stretching out new tires.





Well, guess what arrived from Italy today…a NOS set of Galli Top Crit rims for my next wheel build. I like the black finish and brake track, as opposed to typical brownish anodizing that soon starts to show wear. I think they’re going to look sweet laced around some Campagnolo Record hubs.

Vittoria Corsa Control Graphene tubular 28mm


The last pair of 28mm from Condor Cycles for £60 each.

I've been thinking of trying Corsa Control (latex) tubular for a while, currently using Vittoria Rubino (butyl) 28mm which are very good.
But Vittoria no longer make the Rubino tubulars.
It now appears they've stopped making the Corsa Control tubulars, so if you want some:.

Today I got some real Goodness from squirtdad in the form of a pair of crank arms for potential use on the Basso. And after some introspection this week I have decided to follow his advice. Life IS too short to not ride the best bikes you have. So some renewed interest in my own fleet and riding those instead of going to the co-op and working on other folks stuff. Pics:

Your statement kind of sounds like the joke we say about my wife planning her dream wedding. She had it all planned out except for the name on the invitation. Luckily, I happened to come along at the right time.

have a frame in the works to be acquired......which changed my target parts build a bit, but still dealing with 80% of stuff from my stash (of course i did get the record group, just because a while back) but stem, seat post, handle bar and wheels have been in my possession for a while

Williams C45D double 3/32” chain rings to fit the arms I had recently bought, thinking I will keep a look out for some rings, and “boof” they appeared on eBay! I went through my box of bottom bracket spindles and had one of the exact length for the chain line, now with that kind of luck I should win the lotto this week! Next job to to file the pins, I don’t mind that but I have to be in a patient mood!

I was going with Stronglight or TA with Milremo arms, but couldn’t get rid of that expensive itch to get as near to the 1959 brochure as I can….I have a Carlton that wants the other chain-set.
