Winter CyclingDon't let snow and ice discourage you this winter. The key element to year-round cycling is proper attire! Check out this winter cycling forum to chat with other ice bike fanatics.
We get a little bit tomorrow, but it will be difficult to appreciate with the 50-70 km/h winds. Checking my cycling log our first big lasting snowfall was Nov 9th last year, the 6th the year before, and the 10th the year before that. I don't see the "here to stay" snow in the forecast yet, but those have a habit of coming out of nowhere.
I wouldn't mind another few weeks of decent weather. I've been doing some long exploration rides on gravel roads surrounding the city. Once winter sets in I prefer to not stray too far from somewhere to warm up.
Aw man! On a Thursday!? My wife teaches dance that night.
Hey, that's new. When and how did this one find you?
The 14th is actually the night of the winter cycling workshop... found the BRC on the north side and had been pondering a build where I could run some 700:45 knobbies and the BRC seemed just right.
Bikes: Specialized Tarmac Expert, Schwinn Mesa, Huffy Rock Creek 29er, Fuji Cambridge, 1970s-era Ross ten speed. Various parts bikes in various stages of disassembly.

So long. Been nice knowing you BF.... to all the friends I've made here and in real life... its been great. But this place needs an enema.
Figured that since I already had the 20 inch Marathon winter tyres that I had better put them to use... and the 20 already had fenders and an IGH so what more could you ask for ?
I have a scruffier looking 20 that I will swap those wheels into before winter gets too ugly.
