Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's useful for a while, or if you have a tendency to ride in too low of a gear. After a while of using it you'll be able to guess your cadence, but you probably wouldn't have been able to do this if you hadn't had the cadence meter.

Either way, it's a lot better than using your ride time clock to count out your cadence...

It's sort of like a heart beat meter. Great when you first start out and you don't know what your max is, or when you're training and need to maintain your target HR. But it becomes useless once you when you've reached your THR. Then again, it could be useful to measure your progress.

Performance Bibs and Jerseys. Now that I have had a bad experience with bibs, I am reluctant to try a better pair--I might hate them too.

Road Morph pump. A great pump but it doesn't fit on my new bike. I use Co2 now.

A camelbak. I used it a few summers ago. Maybe I will use it again, but it general it is more trouble than it is worth.

you wanna send those shoe covers to me?

the addidas toe covers I used during winter are about to fall apart.
And yes, they do work. My foot doesn't get drenched as badly when I inadvertantly hit huge puddles. less drenched = less chance of freezing body parts.

King Cage Stem Water Bottle Cage Mount - Worthless POS. Has a few meager thread screws tapped directly into soft aluminum that will strip with even the slightest pressure. Whichever way it's mounted it'll eject bottles even faster than saddle mount cages. Thought I could use this to mount a 3rd bottle on the bike, but I eventually threw it away in disgust.

A bell. It turned out to be too quiet and a pain to use. It came with me on exactly one ride.

Deda Pista bars.

After 15 kms in the drops it feels like The Terminator T-1000 is digging into my shoulders. Stock Trek T1 bars feel amazing for me.

All the Campy C-record 80's stuff I bought to put together a steel classic late 80's bike. Sadly, I am yet to find either the frame on my size or the right amount to motivation to look hard enough for it. Either way, it is all sitting in a box.

Mountain bike: it lasted one day, felt like I was driving a tank and the low psi irritated me.
Indoor trainer: made me feel like a mouse on a wheel, prefer to spend my money on winter gear.
Saddlebags: they just irritate me.
Knog lights: even when you turn them off the batteries still drain...WTF.

1. Easton EA70 Aero Wing bars... I could achieve a similar result with undercooked spaghetti and some duct tape.

2. Ritchey 4axis 90mm. Excellent stem, way too short.

3. Crud Road Racers - They're a fine product, but I don't use them. Perhaps this will change however, as my new team jersey is white..

4. Clothes that are too big.

5. Saddle bag.

6. Last, but definitely not least, a fake Cervelo Test Team kit from China. Crap quality, not bibs, I don't own a Cervelo and probably never will, and moreover, I'll never wear a pro team kit again.. I just think it looks silly.

I'm surprised daughters want to use anything organic from dads.

That stuff is heavy & worked like crap. You'll make a killing selling it on Ebay though.

Did not get it for the weight value of it. I was going for the classic steel late 80's thing. Missing a frame still.............

Some more:

-Vittoria PitStop. Of all things Vittoria, this has got to be the one thing that is shet at best. Nice concept, but for me personally it has only worked once out of 12+ cans I've used. It makes a mess regardless of how careful you are and then sprays all over the bike through the hole in the tire. Today was a prime example. Never again.
-Ultralight carbon cages from ebay. Although they did weight 9 grm each including hardware, they also turned the larger bottles into torpedos when going over large bumps or railroad tracks. Bought others that came in at a hefty 11 grm, but 2 years later are still working great and have never once spit the bottle out.
-The Bicycle Wheel Building video. I am yet to unwrap it 1.5 years later.
-Mini pumps. Have 3 different ones. They all work and will inflate a tire. However, the 300 pumps it takes and how hot they get, not to mention how cumbersome most are to hold while pumping has seriously discouraged me from using them. Today was the last time I carry one. Back to the CO2 cartridges and dispenser. They will come in handy when out of the country or out of the area where I can't call my support vehicle if all fails.
