3 months in the USA
Hello Friends,
After 88 days and 3000 kilometers pedaling in the United States we arrived at our final destination in the USA, Salt Lake City!
We are delighted to these 3 months Pedaling in the United States!
It was a real adventure between the desert and mountain, strong winds and storms, searing heat, snow and cold, and the effects of the altitude and finally a little greenery and Owls rivers the last days of pedaling... This was not all days easy!
The people that we have encountered have helped us and have been there to give us smile and courage to the difficult moments. We have seen of the Landscapes Absolutely incredible! The USA is a very large country with the very many appearances. Here everything is great: the Mountains, the distances, the cars, the quantities, the supermarkets, people...
Always happy and motivated, we prepare the result of the trip.
On 28 May we take off for Colombia, but before that there are a lot of things to do! Then we decided to post less text and a lot of photos with comments.
There is also our small films that we take a little time and on which we prefer to concentrate.

Hi !!
We are in Cartagena, and still alive!!
But it's so hot here, really it's crazy...
Yesterday after a day of shopping we were sick because of the shock between the heat outside and the cold of the air conditioner which fall like a shower when you enter in the store....
We hope to be able to take the road tomorrow.
It's an other world here, we don't really enjoy Cartagena, it's extremely touristic with all the time people trying to sell you something, it's almost aggressive... also a lot of drugs and prostitution tourism...
But we know it's mainly Cartagena like that.
We try to finish our last movie in US ASAP.

Hi dear friends !
We are back with the sixth and last episode of our adventures in US after 3 months riding.
We finished our trip in US by entering in Utah in Colorado City, crossed Zion, Bryce, followed the beautiful road 12, then Emery, Price and finely Salt Lake City.
We are now riding in Colombia, from Cartagena to Bogota. After a period so hot and humid on the coast we are now in the mountain, it's more rolling but also more fresh!
Enjoy
PS : sorry for the mistake during the dedication to BikeForums.net

The drone footage is a game changer for ride reports. Possibly enhanced by being in the US southwest, where the views are stupendous from the saddle alone. The editing and music as well greatly added to the enjoyment of the video, so job well done !.
Hoping you have a wonderful and safe trip to South America, looking forward to your next installments.

Thanks guys for your comments!!
We are still enjoying Colombia, but after 2 weeks with the incredible humid heat on the cost, we took a bus to San Gil in the mountain and after that night in the bus with the continuous air-conditioning too cold, I'm (Fred) sick from that time. About 3 weeks sick!! I'm now taking antibiotics and it's slowly getting better.
We are at Choachi, 30km at the east of Bogota, enjoying the house of a friend who is now in India. We take 3 quite weeks here and then we come back to Europe on July 24th. From Berlin we want to come back by ridding for 2 months, but all this is now uncertain, one member of our family have a serious health problem.
So, don't know how will look like the video on Colombia! In many area it was not safe to use and show in the street the video material, even the phone, and then we didn't had the energy to record anything!

Many people see the results of your adventures but have no idea of the time, energy and expense it takes to produce these videos. You can make it look simple, and like you're always having fun, but often times the reality is its an awful lot of hard work. Not to mention you have to keep on the lookout to stay safe and protect your belongings. Anyway, enjoy the ride.

Hi guys!
Back to the forum to share some news.
We are back in France from July 26th, after 2 months in Colombia. Unexpected change in our plans.
Fred's father in law has a sever brain tumor, we are back to support him and Fred's mother.
Also they leave in a big house which requires some hands.
The house! This old place was a farm until around 1950. We rent this house.
So, this is the end of this adventure on our dear tandem bicycle, but it's also a new chapter in our life and we welcome the coming unknown adventures with the smile, including the pain of this hard time.
It's the life, everything and everybody as well keep coming and passing away.
After 3 years of nomad life with our tandem we are a bit tired, so we are fine to stop here and to settle down for awhile. Also we dream to establish our own family...
We sell our tandem, we prefer that this great machine continues the adventure rather than sleeping in the garage.
Also it's quite a lot of money which we would be happy to recover, to buy two mountain bikes among other things.
Do you think it worth to post a thread on the market of this forum? Even if we have to send it to USA.
As soon as we have the time and the energy we will write an article on our blog and edit our last film about Colombia.
Until this, here some photos in Colombia in exclusivity just for you !

Luckily we didn't see any dinosaur crossing the road...

Sorry to here about Fred's dad, but glad that you all made it out of Columbia safely and without meeting any highwayman.

I'm sorry about the circumstances which ended your tour.
I wouldn't attempt to sell your tandem to someone in North America. There are simply too many complications both for you and for any potential buyer.
I was in the same huge square in Villa de Leyva, and in fact, I met a French touring cyclist in that square.
Have you written anything on the internet about your touring in Colombia (en anglais ou bien en français)?

When are you going to begin work of Volume II: The logistics of cross country cycling? Equipment selection? Lodging? Route planning? Safety and repairs? Tandem vs singles? Meal Planning? What's in my panniers? From what I can see, just your tandem and setup alone could fill half a dozen videos. What are your plans now? I'm sure others would love to see more. I certainly would.
P.S. I know Fred's dad is the concern right now, so I'll say a prayer for him and his family.

Sorry to hear the news about the brain tumor. It is good that you can change your plans to be there for them. You have a great attitude that comes through in your videos and your writing, I'm looking forward to hearing of your future adventures. Good luck selling the tandem, I don't have any helpful suggestions.
