You are lucky! My Dad was skinny as a rail, when he was a ute. And slender his whole life. Of the 6 of us kids, the older 4 all seem to be naturally thin, while the last 2 of us - my sister and me - both tend to be heavier. But we were both thin as kids, too. Not sure why this is, but I can tell you all 6 of us eat like horses.

Love that guy. Anybody else take notes in case you're in one of the towns?

Giving up booze during the week turned out to be amazingly easy and also had the effect of reducing our desire for alcohol on the weekends. These days, one drink or glass of wine and I'm done. The exception being on the boat, at anchor after a long day of short-handing with the wife or at the dock after a race. The combination of massive thirst and physical and mental fatigue just removes all the stop signals.

I remember when it was just the older building. My dad and I used to ski at Mt. Waterman when I was young (that was definitely more than 30 years ago).
Lower Big T was okay. Better going up than it would be going down, but no significant issues that I noticed. That's the first time I've been on it since at least 2004, so I can't compare it to anything more recently.

I went through similar measures, but I sure as hell didn't give up the beer!
That, IMO, is one of the nice things about counting both input and output - as long asyour you're under for the day, it's not necessarily a matter of denying yourself the things that you like. I've found that, if I eat right otherwise, there's room for a daily 12oz beer even on days where I'm not particularly active.

Some of his production crew live not too far away from me, evidently. He's come through town a few times, hitting up places that they've recommended and the Guy fans have seriously messed up wait times at places I love. I mean, on one hand, I like seeing these places doing the bang-up business that they deserve, but I've also avoided some places for months at a time because they were so busy.

So you went down a different way? During the summer the race car traffic was unreal. I went up Big T with the intention of going to Red Box, possibly to Mount Wilson, but the people racing around was worse than I had ever seen it, probably due to covid, so I turned back at Clear Creek and went back down Big T. I would have descended Angeles Crest if drivers had been behaving better.

A couple years back, Mrs. GeneJockey and the Little GeneJockeys took me to a place nearby that had been featured on one of his shows. The Refuge - a sandwich place that makes their own pastrami. It was fantastic! Flavorful, tender... everything "pastrami' in packages in the lunchmeat section never is. And with real pickles!
