A train requires 1614 feet to stop from 30 mph. I'm not sure the size of the train is that important, since all the cars also have brakes.

A 100 car train takes about a mile to mile and a half to stop at 55 mph. Much depends on the weight of the loaded cars or empties, the track grade, and weather variables.

The belief that a train can stop like a car has no doubt killed a significant number of people.

Tell Rob Reiner. I'm sure that one flaw caused the whole movie to be a failure at the box office and certainly kept it from becoming one of the best-remembered movies of its era.

Dear Rob Reiner,
If you're reading this thread, I want you to know you should have had sparks coming from the train wheels on the bridge scene.
Sincerely,
Velo Vol

Alternatively, Reiner may have made the conscious decision NOT to show something as cliched as sparks coming off the wheels - "EVERYONE does that! It's such a cliche!"

I mentioned my wheelbuilding idea to Mrs. GeneJockey and she seemed supportive.
Or resigned. Hard to tell sometimes.

It would have been better if it was a Tarantino movie. Limbs would have been severed in that scene.

Maybe your wife has just reached the point where she is happy for you to be entertaining yourself in the garage?

When my wife and I were dating, I played a lot of golf. My bride to be wasn't so sure about that and thought I should play less. Her mom advised her that one day she would be glad that I spent so much time at the golf course.

100% masked in Mérida Costco.
On subject, I have found it impossible to unsubscribe from Costco emails. I tried several times. This time I reported it as spam. Vamos a ver.

I think it's true. I have been involved in cognitive enhancement for years and used to show a slide at the end of my talks showing how the effect sizes in our fancy-pants, high-tech, brain stimulation world were not much better than from gum chewing or smoking a cig. Our stuff has gotten better lately though.
