When he told me he was positive, I called my employer, and they gave me the week off. I just hope I' didn't spread it to my mom. .

Back in the days of my addiction, I ordered in from Mexico City. Shipping cost was the same from 3 kilos to 50 kilos. So I ordered 7 kilos at a time, for a total of US$50 shipped. When I gave up the addiction, I still had 4 kilos left.

The last time we rode together was last Saturday. He got tested Thursday by the MLB team he works for, and it came up positive. Today he texted that he lost taste/smell, but feels okay.

Oh, I noticed the past few rides that my rear wheel makes a quiet but audible pinging sound under load. Silent when coasting or pedaling at Z2 or less.It sounds like the spokes are shifting slightly where they overlap, and I can reproduce a similar sound if I manually move the spokes where they cross.
The tension and trueness of the wheel is indeed off a bit, so my best guess is that's WHY the sounds are happening. I suppose I should put a tiny drop of oil at each junction for now.
Comments??

I can see why people can get addicted to it. I'm gonna keep it as a once or twice a week thing, and if I start craving again, I'll give it up. How many chances do we get to kick a serious addiction?
I have been seriously productive for the past five hours.
Instant coffee doesn't give me any craving at all. And it doesn't make me seriously productive either.

Covid-19 will likely be the catalyst that forced the big change, but the seeds were being sown for years. The "standard" price of a good tri bike doubled or more in a decade. Ironman hoovered up all the attention and people did focused plans for them that wiped out the ability to support local races. The sport became (or appeared to become) too expensive for the relatively-poor next generation, who wandered into running or CrossFit or Spartan races. The 40-somethings absolutely dominate now, and cluck their tongues at the poor moral fiber of the young'uns for not having the discipline for Ironman, nevermind the difficulty of doing it these days without parental backing or the kind of career that's hard to come by in your 20s (and nevermind that you need nearly a week off to do the races now).
Triathlon (via Ironman) priced out newcomers (both in equipment and the death of local races), and the ageing of their core customers is a death knell for the sport's relevancy.
Make no mistake, it's not going to die out completely. It has been contracting, and will continue to contract, and will likely become a sport for rich old white men doing Ironman and local races in certain metro areas.

#therealshame is going to be that in only a few years I'm going to wake up and be one of those (relatively) wealthy middle-aged white men, wondering when I became the establishment.
I just hope I'm better than the current batch.
No offense to anyone here.

2 other guys I ride with tested positive this week, but I haven't seen either one in a few months( and they haven't been in contact either). Both have symptoms, and feel sick, but nothing terrible at this point.
