Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

With that mix, I'd go with the Veloce calipers. You've already got Record covered with the crankset.

I have Potenza calipers on the Rio and folks mistake them for Record brakes all the time.

When I saw the pic, I couldn't figure out what was going on but the internal metal housing is fully inserted and working fine, just the outer plastic sheath looks like crap. Rear is the same way. Housing isn't compressing and works fine.
Sounds reasonable to me.

Time to ride. Mercifully, it’s cooler and less humid than last Saturday.

I'm waffling between riding and watching TdF.

40-some-odd miles for me this morning. Set out feeling like crappity crap, but eventually settled in and had a decent go of it.

In non-cycling news, the grandparents will be stopping by today and babysitting for the afternoon. Having time to ourselves is such a rare occurrence that the wife and I are struggling to think of what to do.

20.53 miles on the MTB, and nothing but love out there!

According to Strava, I'm significantly slower than Chloe Woodruff on some of the segments I rode today.

Me All-Time PR 4:30 Jan 29, 2019
Chloe WoodruffQOM 3:17 Feb 19, 2016

In June I posted that I set a PR on my 25 mile ride down in GA that I use to get ready for my ~annual 30 mile ride up North. I beat it by about 20 seconds. Today I beat that by 41 seconds. So over last years previous best I am a minute faster. I have a chance to match my time I have been chasing for 9 years.

If you are lucky, I will post a confusing chart detailing seconds over or under my previous best for each 5 mile segment. If only Vol where alive to enjoy it.

We had a good ride. But before we started, the ride leader noticed a big crack in his drive-side seat stay just above the dropout. Crack was circumferential and all the way through the crabon fiber. Sad! He drove home and met us halfway. Sadly, he had the SAME problem last year and the framebuilder “fixed” it.

The Bike is really beautiful and made by a us builder whose nane is a number that roughly equals the bike cost in thousands.

I feel bad for my friend but he should have bought a full Ti frame.

I haven't been riding of late, because the humidity is so brutal (because we're getting daily afternoon rains, like rainy seasons of old). I'm also finding other stuff to do. Yesterday I cleaned and flushed the solar water heater, and cleaned the detritus off the flat roof. And planted a cover crop in the raised beds. This morning I went to Merida and bought an electric motor for the chipper/shredder I'm modifying. Tomorrow I hope to get out early and ride. Due to the daily rains, I also have to get back to mowing promptly, humidity and all.
