Not sure on the chain rings, I would imagine with my rides up to this point and in the future I would not need a 30T chain ring. I would like to plan a trip to Roanoke Virginia and do some climbing, but realistically that’s not anything that is going to happen anytime soon.

You can play around with a gearing calculator and see how options compare to what you currently have. Your chainrings should be marked with what they are; probably 50/34, 52/36, or (unlikely) 46/36.

Well, it was boring at the outset, then my fat ass hit the hills, after which I was thankful that I'd taken it so easy early on. I did have a nice little second wind after a re-upping snacks/drinks about an hour away from home, though.
I really wanted to do a double metric today - the route I had planned is flatter and, pacing as I did, I certainly would have had the legs for it, probably at a little faster clip.

Are different 11 speed cassettes made for different situations? Example; is there a cassette better suited for hills, vs. flat land? This morning I was on the big chain ring up front, and on the number 5 from right on the back. I was cranking at about 105 rpm and decided to shift up, but it was a huge difference. My rpm dropped dramatically to 85 and I could really feel it in my legs. This old timer I ride with, swears I am missing the 18 tooth cassette, and that’s what I need for flat ground.

I went and got one from my barber shop, they had chairs 10 feet apart and bla bla bla, when I was finishing up another barber came in with no mask and started cutting a customer that didn’t have one on either. I like my barber, but they lost my business permanently.

It was pouring here at 5AM so I didn’t get to go out. Taking the girls kayaking tomorrow so only have time for about 30 in the AM. Deeply disappointed in my lack of mileage this week

Hair clippers finally came back in stock at my local Target. Picked up a set and gave the boy a much-need cut the other day. He slept much better without the equivalent of a cat sitting on his head during the warm stretch.

I imagine that you've got a 50/34 up front. With that chain ring combo, I really like having the 12-25 cassette - the spacing is great and I don't miss >25t or the 11t, given my terrain, which is more hilly than what you have to contend with. Just not sure when you say that you find yourself cross-chaining. If you are cross-chaining, going with narrower spacing isn't necessarily going to help.

My wife has been buzzing my hair since before we got married. Figured it saves me roughly 40 bucks a month. She doesn’t do a bad job, I’ve paid for hair cuts that have ended up crooked.

So you're often in the cogs in the ~15-25t region? That's not necessarily a problem. Hell, being in the big-big isn't necessarily a problem. Yeah, it'll decrease the mileage that you'll get out of some of your drivetrain parts, but whatever.

In my opinion, you need to learn your bike a bit. Every ride need not be a hammerfest, or a competition within yourself to bump up the average speed. Learn the big and little chain ring when you have time to absorb what's actually happening. Experiment. See what happens when you swap gears and chain rings at the same speed. Just stuff....

Sometime soon I'm going to go with a ~6mm narrower BB so that my chainline is a bit better.

The front/sides actually look ok. Apparently the back is the funny part, and I am too askeered to look for myself.

That sounds like a lot of hair cuts.

I waved at two different sets of walkers this morning. Even said good morning to both of them, I got no response. Not even a nod.
Elitist walkers? They weren’t on my fly by.
