big John, are you taking about Costco or Walmart? Costco has one of the lowest employee turnover rates in the retail business.

Today is a bike ride day. Excited! I can go weeks and not ride much, nor look forward to riding. But once I take it up again, every other day, it's all I want to do. I would ride every day, but I have other things that need doing, and I also need that day's rest.

almost ate it today. The last sprint section of the group ride, a 4 person group broke away. I ended up chasing them down and catching up to them. The guy in the back went to pass everyone and try to breakaway again, and I got on his wheel. The number one guy saw him trying to make a break for it and immediately swung over to take his wheel. Issue, I was on that wheel. He never saw me, I ended up slamming on my brakes and giving up the chase.
No harm no foul, but for a second I thought I was heading to the hospital.

No. one of the other cyclist did. He apologized, never saw me, didn’t expect me to chase them down for the win.
In other news the SRAM force threw the chain again this morning. I was shifting to the big ring and I gave it adequate time before I started shifting the rear derailer. Took me longer to figure out what happened than it should have. I thought I shift down too much and that’s why I had so much slack in the pedal. Luckily the chain fell on the outside and not the inside. Quick fix. Last time it fell on the inside and I had to bust tools out to get it fixed.

5540, including virtual. Real world miles are probably about 1000 less, IIRC. Dunno. I have an Excel file on my computer at home.

8757. but my goal this year was 10,000, no real reason. Just wanted to prove to myself that I could do it, and I’m pretty hard on myself when I set goals.
My brand new garmin rally pedals had a moment yesterday. How I wish this number was true.

872.3 km, on RideWithGps. It's been awhile since I made any effort to keep track.

I don't record anything, don't use any electronics on my bikes, but I think I will be over 7K for the year, based on doing 150 miles per week. Doesn't really matter, though. Could be more. I think around 300K feet of gain, conservatively. Could be quite a bit more. It's really not a lot. A friend has been doing over 600K every year for years and he is a lot slower than I am, he just concentrates on the climbing.
