Yep. I really hope they find that new course. On top of the increasing rate of cancellations, the level of traffic on Wells Ave is another good reason to seriously look at a new location. This is frustrating for historical reasons, and also frustrating on a personal level for me because Wells was really my best bet for getting some regular racing in for most of the spring and summer. House stuff is going to be keeping me on a tight leash for a while.

I'll be racing in the 3's. Good luck to you, your field is legit, but given your win at Bear I'd wager you can hold your own.

Anybody hear anything about when Rockleigh starts? Their web site hasn't been updated in a year, but I thought they usually started in May.

We wussed out on Sunapee and signed up for Mystic (Ninigret) instead. If it rains, I don't want to drive to NH for it.

Yep, Wilmington indeed. At least i'll be rolling with 4 other teammates, which should be good.
I'm more concerned about how long beforehand to line up, etc as position will be key. In a certain sense, i think it's kind of a scam they allow so many to register knowing that the last third of riders have a very low chance of finishing the race...

it's super technical. one year I recall they did all kinds of call ups and by the time I made it from where I started to the front the winning break was gone.

Reminds me, I have two front wheels to glue. One will get a rain tire.

Watching CDR helmet cam of the Kermis from a few years ago. Video like this is so helpful when you haven't raced the course before! I just wish he had won the race so I could properly count backwards to figure out where various course features are in relation to the finish.

Connecticut people: usually when I go to Hartford I take 84 from Newburgh, but I'm worried that might be a big mess on a Friday afternoon. I could cut across smaller roads from Kingston instead, which is 20 miles shorter but would normally take a half hour longer.
Any advice on 84 traffic at 3-4pm on a Friday?

The stretch from before the bridge in Newburgh to the Taconic will take forever, it's like people forget how to drive and go into reptile brain mode.

Wilmington Grand Prix
last time I did this race, it was a huge rectangle with two looong straightaways and two short connectors that were basically one long turn each. they've added the square on the upper right around courthouse. I remember corners 3&4, which now look like 7&8 being a wide to narrow street entry that was kind of tricky. I also remember the crosswalks on market street being brick with concrete on both sides, the concrete was several inches higher than the bricks and by the end of the race my arms and shoulders were super sore from hitting the concrete.
Good luck! You should be fine in cat 3, just get to the front early and stay there.

BTW good luck on the house situation. They say moving, divorce, and getting fired are the three most stressful things people commonly experience in their lives. Not saying that to be a downer, just saying, be prepared for some significant external stress.
