The 2nd GT frame I've modified as a 'daily driver' commuter, this was more or less a complete bike that has purple paint underneath the PO-applied gray spray job. It came with nearly all Shimano LX group and a seized RockShox (Judy?) which led me to think it's a Karakoram, but what sez you-all?
(The rigid fork was never-mounted NOS bout at a swap-meet in El Sobrante.)

Finally finished up the 700c road/gravel conversion of my 1995 GT Tequesta. Veloce 10sp shifters & front derailleur, Centaur 11sp rear derailleur, Shimano Alivio (cr18) wheels, Sunrace 10sp cassette, Dia Compe 610 style unbranded center pull brakes. Shifting is working pretty well but I’m waiting for a Jtek Shiftmate to arrive to clean it up. Time to tweak my position setup... it’s been 20+ years since I’ve had a drop bar bike. ;^) Oh yea... and I got it painted...

Wasn't the Tequesta a 26" mountain bike?
Did you have any issues in the conversion to 700C?
Looks like you went with centerpulls, any issue with brake alignment?
Just curious, looks interesting.

Correct, the Tequesta was a 26” mtb, with Shimano stx 3x7 & cantilevers. The center pull brakes have really been a non-issue, far simpler than I expected. Basically plug, adjust, play. Only real problem I ran into had to do with the wide chainstays and the relatively narrow q-factor of the FSA Gossamer Pro ABS BB386evo crankset. I needed to use the included spacers to keep the crank arms from hitting the chainstays, and even with the spacers I only have a couple mm of clearance. Because of this I had to ditch my pedal bolt mounted sensor magnet (too thick) and strap one onto the edge of the crank arm.
The original stem was 130x5 and I replaced it with a 120x10 as a total guess as to positioning and I think I was close but it may still be a little long, I feel a little too stretched out. But, I suppose if that’s all i have to change then no big deal.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
Just nit-picky on my part, but I would have spun out the canti posts and pluged the sockets. Still, nice bike!

I have thought about the posts but never really checked to see if they could be removed. Know for sure if they can be? One reason I didn't pursue it was the idea that perhaps I could find some long reach cantilevers that would work with my 700c wheels.

Dollars to doughnuts they'll screw right out.
Mavic used to make an adapter to raise the posts so you could ride 700c wheels on your 26" mountain bike, but I doubt they are still available.

My GT road bike. As it sits, 17 pounds, four ounces minus pedals and other accoutrements. Fast, plenty stiff in the rear, stable but quick. My favorite bicycle as of now:
With the original aluminum fork it did have a little buzz on rough roads but the CF fork ended that without affecting the handling.

Just picked up this one , a 1988 Karakoram in Red , It seems like the Granite paint was alot more common on these guys than the red. Deore 6 Speed SIS with Dark Anodized Araya RM-20's . 23" Frame
Its gonna get cleaned up and rebuilt, I am almost positive i have the correct GT stem for it.

i've never seen a steel frame that had removable posts. it's always aluminum or carbon. steel is usually fully brazed

here is my Zaskar LE with a Noleen fork i bought from an old room mate, i think it might have been a team bike that he raced. the frame had a nice ball burnished finish. I used to use it as my commuter, but i preferred my road bike! It went away when an unscrupulous moving company "lost" 3 bikes.

I'm a huge fan of GT bikes, my first one was a beated up 1998 Palomar, i had it for a month and then i sold it just to buy another beated up Palomar but 2013 model. I really miss my 1998's one. It was a bit rusty (just superficially) but it was the best bike i had. Then i bought the 2013 one, it costed the same as the 1998 but without chain and mid shifter. I converted it to a coaster brake. I used only used parts i picked up on the place we receive donations and we are volunteers to help other people repair their bikes. I put a used Shimano E110 coaster brake and Create crank. Then i built the bike with 3x7 transmission and sold it. Now i have a triple triangle but i don't know if it is a GT. I thaught it was a 1992 Cyclone but i'm still doubting so i hope you know.

This one is the one i suspect could be a GT Cyclone 92 but on the other hand it has some differences, so, i'm really doubting and even more, i could not find the serial number.

Those photos were the ones i took her to be announced in sale
That bar was horrible, the bar support (here in Uruguay we call it T, Potencia or Avanxe) cracked. Weld it to be sold and the owner told me it cracked few hours later.
