Having that machined and polished face on DA9000 was kinda cool. Now it just looks fat.

Today I went to the brick and mortar Apple store to buy an Apple iPhone SE for free with a two year Verizon contact. Basically, I've had it with the terrible service I get with my T-mobile Nokia flip phone, plus I want to do internet stuff and take pictures when I'm away from home. Anyway, it turns out Verizon needs two days to do a credit check on me before approving the contract and getting the phone operational. So, I have to go back to the store on Friday to get it and bring it home. Before even starting the credit check I had to speak to the Verizon rep to answer a few questions to verify my identity, which I guess has become necessary because of the epidemic of identity theft.

So you already have a carrier with whom you've established credit, right ? See, I'm new to Verizon, who will subsidize my new phone, and they just want to check my credit to make sure I'm not a deadbeat who will take the free phone and default on the service contract. It's just a two day delay that doesn't cost me a dime. I haven't paid anything yet or given them my credit card number, and I don't want to give them my credit card number for an autopay. The unsubsidized price of the phone is $399.

Holy hot damn. Today I just got off the phone with Best Buy. Bought my iPhone 6S 64gb for $299 with a 2 year contract renewal on Verizon. That's fine, I am sticking with them and have no plans to go anywhere else. Just checked the website. Same phone is now $199. Falls within the 15 day price match so I called Best Buy customer service and they got the ball rolling. Looks like my Best Buy credit card will be updated to reflect that new price within 24 hours.
So $299 is still cheaper than going through Apple or Verizon it appears where you pay full price which is like $6xx. I was OK paying that much for the phone. $199? Absolutely.
Thanks TejanoTrackie for making me go to the Best Buy site to see if they have the SE available. Because of you, I found out that the price had dropped.

Actually, $299 is the current price through Apple for the 6s 64Gb with a 2 year Verizon contract. I'm just getting the SE with 16Gb for free. I like buying from Apple, because Applecare is easy with them. Just bring the phone back to the store if anything breaks.

I want some for my track bike too. Most of the remainder of 2016 will be focused on road expenditures for me as I plan on replacing both of my road bikes, but my track bike and ss/fg road are short on the list for 2017.

SE is the best of both worlds, size and features. I am finding that my 5S is just a tad bit too small, especially coming from a Samsung Note 3. This 6S should be just about right.

Your and my needs are probably quite different. I mostly need a mobile phone just to be a phone with email access. I will use it as a camera, and a few apps for navigation etc, but not much more. I leave web surfing to my iPad mini, which stays at home and accesses the web on my secure wifi connection. In fact, I'm typing this message on it right now.

I just went from a 6 to an SE and it was odd at first to reduce sizes but you acclimate pretty quickly. Fits much nicer in my tight hipster jeans.

Today is my last day of work before my mini vacation:
Jul 1: Canada Day! Our CEO is Canadian . <3 Canada.
Jul 4: Duh
Jul 5: PTO
I do plan on working ~2-4 hrs on F or S and M, mainly so I can tie up some loose ends and do some of the extra crap I can never find time to do during the day.
My main goal for the break: Clean my stuff, get 8+ hrs of sleep/night, play the piano, get some house plants and re-arrange the living room of my apt.
