Welcome.
Let me know if you need me to translate. If you are on the north side of TN then please note I don't speak Kentucky.
Protip: Maam, Sir, Please, Thank You... speak slowly and don't interrupt. What you think was a period in their sentence is just a comma. There is more.
And don't try to hide your New York accent. Trust me on this.

Im about an hr south of Nashville, our event is on milky way farms and mars' house is ABSURD. The dining table literally covers more square footage than my entire apartment. This is not a joke.

The other day I finally got around to starting my road build.
Converted to threadless. I really liked the fork, but the steerer tube was about a cm short with the fsa headset that came with the fork. Lowest stack headset and stem I could find, slammed, and I still had to face about 4mm from the top and 2mm off the bottom of the headtube but it works.

Today I started really concentrating on getting the fit of my endurance road bike completely done. Swapped to a 80mm stem and have come to the realization that the bars are too damn wide. The bike rides really nicely but I have never gotten the fit right. 56 felt too small and 58 was slightly too big with the huge stem that it had on there. Figured I could make it work a bit more swapping a stem out and saddle adjustments. It never felt right though and I think that the bar is the culprit. Going to be swapping bars out this weekend and redoing the tape and cables......damn I like having a fixed gear without that hot mess of cables and hoods.

I had a meeting to attend this afternoon and decided to ride my FG to it. I was running a little late, so I went as hard as I could to get there. It's about 8.5 miles away, with gradual elevation gain all the way. I averaged exactly 15 mph, a tough ride on this bike.
Coming back home, I had the luxury of giving a casual effort, yet the mild descent still gave me an average speed of 15.7 mph. A little more speed with much less exertion.
I relaxed at home for a few hours and then went to our church (in my truck) for a blood drive. The Red Cross screener checked me and found my blood pressure was a little too high. He deferred me from donating today. This surprised me because my pressure is usually quite low. I wonder if the riding drove it up for the night.

Why would high pressure make them not want to take blood? Some sort of risk for you? Curious.

Beats me. I wondered if the guy knew what he's doing, because my pressure is typically not just below the "high" range, but lower than "normal." My daughter is a nursing assistant, so when she got home late last night, I had her check it with her cuff and stethoscope. Her reading was much lower than what the Red Cross guy got. Seems like he'd be good at it, since he probably does it dozens of times a day.

If your blood pressure was high, wouldn't taking some out lower it? #notadoctor

Blood pressure is determined primarily by resistance to blood flow, not the volume of blood in the body.

There's a reason they don't let me wear the white coat.

Ive said ya'll 3x already and it wasn't even a conscious decision, it kinda scared me afterwards.

That room is awesome. How was the chow?

Great, i had a baked potato the size of a small child.
Aparently that table (and the rest of the entire house, including the stone) is made entirely from trees gathered from the property. The table was built in the room and it does not come apart.
Pretty cool.

I bought a neat old Volvo the other day. First one to guess the model wins.
Classy. How'd it ride?

I wonder how they replace the carpeting? Auto jacks?

Nagrom, I'll guess Volvo 240 Turbo wagon. I think this matches your style. (I hope I win!)
Mumonkan, I'm jealous of your banquet. Just touring that place would be cool. Eating there sounds wonderful.
Johnny, What caused the hematoma in the first place?
Tejano, thanks for the link. I'm going to read up on blood pressure.
Seau, taking some blood out to reduce pressure? Seems legit. I was surprised they wouldn't let me donate because it seems like the high pressure would just make the bag fill up faster.

Hey, there were some guys hurt this season...
Guy ran off unseen steps and another guy more recently went down in a paceline...
Can anyone who was hurt give a status?
Really hoping everyone hurt this year is healing properly with no lasting effects.

Today I went about 50 miles on my FG conversion. I rode to this little dive for a late lunch. Pork sandwich and an ice cold Coke. Yum!
It's the first time I've ridden this bike very far since reconfiguring it. I recently switched to a bullhorn bar and added a brake.
I think the cockpit turned out pretty tidy. To me, with bikes as with most things in life, neatness counts. So although this bike isn't perfect, I'm happy with its overall setup.
There's just a wee bit of extra space here if I ever want to install a fender and/or bigger tire.
I also put on a new-to-me crank a few weeks ago. I love this crank, and the gear ratio I have now. As you can see, there's plenty of tire clearance back here too. Whoever designed this frame was very generous with the chainstay length. I got wheelbase for days!

Nice! Looks like that frame/fork was probably made for 27" wheels, which means plenty of room to play with when running 700c.
