Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not to mention increasingly expensive and invasive. The takehome message I got from my PCP was basically that there are a lot of things I COULD do, but mostly not worth bothering. She confirmed I have a heart murmur. Then again, in the monthly Siblings Zoom Call with the 5 other Smith Kids, I learned that Dad had a heart murmur, too. Didn't seem to bother him during his 100 3/4 years.

That's how I get some of my grain. Sometimes, distilled after fermentation.

An irrational fear, to be sure.

So I rode hard on Zwift last night to celebrate.
I saw 2 doctors about it in 2017 and I got the "you look good for your age" and "you are 64, after all". Symptoms resolved before I ever saw a cardiologist because the insurance denied the referral the first time around. Those symptoms returned last July but I still haven't seen a doctor. Seems to be a lot better than it was last year.

I did another club ride today. About 20 started on the medium (65 miles) route but we split early when the first hills came. I was feeling weak so I was between groups for a while but when they stopped to wait for everyone to get back on, I took off by myself and felt a lot better after riding at my own pace for a while. They gave up on the second group so the rest of us stayed together until the end.

It was a beautiful day. High of about 65, clouds moving around, and a little wind. The hills are so green right now and there are tons of mustard flowers. I wish I had some pics.

This is what they look like.

My sinuses are killing me which also means my teeth are killing me, too. Been going on awhile. Getting tiresome.

May get rain in a bit here in Lewes, DE. Shame. I’m enjoying reading by the fire.

There are actually some really nice parts of Jersey. Two of my bear sightings while riding have been there. I’ve seen the same number in Montana.
