Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I still use Look Delta pedals. The cleats squeal and squawk when they get a little worn unless I spray them with Pledge. Yesterday I cruised into the park to take a break and a very old couple was standing there attending to their very old dog. I figured they didn't even hear me pass until they walked by as I was sitting on a bench and I heard the guy say something about the "squeaky bicycle".

Ever try a crayola? Might give more durable response.

Have not but if I had one I would. I have smeared Chap Stick on them when climbing and the noise gets irritating.
I have a tire crayon in my toolbox, maybe that will work? It's not as waxy as a Crayola, I don't think.

Well my Ebay seller of the Red22 11 speed shifters had a good week last week. He only had one left yesterday when I looked. He had 9 the week before. 0 today....
I have to figure out this rear wheel hub conglomeration of freehub pawl confusion. I have a DTSwiss hub that has the circular disk freehub pawl not the standard 3 Paul hub. Then I get to start looking at the disk calipers.
Would it be better to go strictly mechanical or cable actuated hydraulic?

You have to pay (and go there) to see what you're bidding on? Two at a time? I don't think that's how eBay is supposed to work.

I'm in the same club. I was on 3 different blood pressure meds and a high dose of Flomax. Working in the garage, I was leaning over, then stood up, blacked out and fell face first into a bench grinder (not running). Split my nose completely in half from the bridge down. Spent the whole night in emergency during Covid times, waiting for a plastic surgeon. None available so the on duty doc sewed me up. Looks like it, too.

Flomax is notorious for causing orthostatic hypotension, which is one reason why they typically suggest taking it close to bedtime.

Like I said, there's no fun in buying somebody else's collection. Whether it's bikes, or watches, the fun is in finding each new part of the collection, so the collection ends up being really yours.

For a proper eBay action he needs to either list the inventory or post pictures so you can actually see all the bikes. One would think for that amount of money he would bother spending more than 10 minutes doing the listing.

Because he either forgot or is ignoring the primary rule of collecting - it's never worth what you put into it. Even when you do your own restoration and maintenance. Buy a bike for $300, put $40 into new cables, $60 into new tires, about 6 hours of work tearing down and building up, and you STILL only have a $300 bicycle. If you're lucky.

Watches are even worse. Spend $60 on a vintage American watch in 'working condition', and if you use a professional, it will cost you at least $200 to get it serviced, assuming no parts are needed. Then you can sell it on Ebay, freshly serviced and adjusted and running for $70.

BTW, his valuation of $250,000 would mean an average value of $2500 each.

Cripes, and here I've been posting pics of my collection for free! From now on, if you want to see my bikes, it's $40 a head!

It's funny - I was starting to experience age-appropriate BPH symptoms, but then my PCP put me on HCTZ for hypertension, and since then I have had no such issues.
