I know everyone has been waiting for the results of the shake down ride with the new seatpost.
It was good! I knew a 30 mm setback would probably do the trick and it did. Best bike money spent in a while. I will ride it as-is for a while and adjust from there as needed.
Bottom line:
The new rig is making me happy.

Oh Billy. Carbon is better.
The Cinelli is alu-min-ium with Deda alloy bits and I'm loving it. Three hour ride on gravel, dirt, singletrack, climbs, and road. I crashed pretty good in a rut and bloodied myself. Carbon cockpit and something would have broken. Like riding a mountain bike, but no suspension and a lot faster. No cars, very fun.
But road carbon is better hands down.

Actually, the Langster had quite an adventure Saturday. Abandon MUPs complete with heaving asphalt, several gravel sections, and even a rocky hike-a-bike over a creek.

The bad news is that I might have a stomach bug.
The good news is that I weighed in at 180.

This happened to me at the end of my workout, yesterday: The cops had a four-lane parkway down to one lane in each direction for some local foot race. Approaching the pinch point, I am in the middle of the continuing lane, riding at the speed of traffic. A delivery van goes into the other lane from behind me, tries to pass, can't, and decides instead to try force me off the road in plain view of the cops.
I yell about him to the cops as I go by. Lo and behold, it's the same cop who gave me a warning for running a red on my bike a couple of weeks ago. He yells, "Hi doc!" in reply, but I don't think he said anything to the van man, who buzzed me at top speed seconds later.

Back when I was still needlessly exposing myself to military primary care, the NP whose clinic I was in used to tell me stuff like, "You know you're one virus away from the ICU, Sir." She also once said, "You know, the camps were liberated in 1945." Pretty salty!

Question for the wrenches and DIYers - the Haanjo will occasionally throw a chain off the front when I let up after a hard effort. What's causing this? The only thing that I could think of is that the hub isn't freewheelin' as well as it should and it's feeding a bit of chain before it gives.

People will break the speed limit to pass me (downhill obv. ). School zones are interesting.

Also, inspect the chain and RD jockey wheels for damage.

It's nervous-making to drive behind a cyclist at any speed, I guess. We look all incongruous and fragile and we wobble all over the road. Once we're out of the windshield we're no longer a problem.
