Chappy, look on eBay for S-Works shoes. I got my wife road and mountain S-Works for $220 total. Road shoes were new, Mountain had been ridden a couple times. The person selling them bought both pairs, but found they weren't quite the right size. I just happened to find the auctions - it was two separate auctions - at just the right time and buy both pairs.

My wife loves them.

you are correct. And i guess i'm being more choosy as my two pairs of DMT are still very serviceable (that's a total of $265 for two pairs, going back four years, though i had to spent $80 on replacement buckles for one of them). $225 is the most i'd like to spend on something new and with warranty, and i'm not sure i can still get all the lifetime warranty coverage if i go the ebay route

I hd cx401s and they were nice, if a little heavy. very plush shoe, nice leather all that.

I just got some Lake CX237's. I don't have a lot of miles on them yet, but they seem nice. My feet are fairly wide in front, but not at the heel. The Lakes in 43W's are a better fit for my feet than my previous Sidi Megas. The Sidi's were just barely wide enough but otherwise a little too big (had to put thicker insoles in them to take up excessive volume). The Lake's have a slightly roomier toe box which I like, and the two BOA dials are nice (I don't think I'd be happy with a shoe with just one).

The lakes are noticeably lighter than the Sidi's, and I like that the uppers are leather rather than that cheap, plasticky material Sidi uses. Time will tell on durability for the leather, though. They don't have as much arch support as I'd like (I have high arches); but no stock shoe does, which is while I'll probably go with full custom's at some point in the future (just not willing to spend the money on that right now, it's been an expensive year).

I had the 236. I did not like them. They fit well, but they were very heavy. The materials were thick, meaning they were quite warm. Also, the BOA system was a disaster. On the 236, the dial was behind the heal. I think that gave it too much slack in the cable. Basically, when I would pull up, the BOA would tighten across my toes while my heel would slide out of the shoe.

I know with the 237 the dial is moved to a more traditional location. I am not sure if that fixed the problem I experienced.

I bought my last pair of Spec shoes on their website. They were having a clearance on the previous year's model. So that's a possibility too.

specialized shoes are great and if their wide size were like 20mm wider I would be all over them. Everyone's feet are different, but specialized shoes are basically the standard around here. Seem to fit a lot of people.

I bought my first pair of SWorks shows for $125 used. They are my current rain shoes. 2008 with a single BOA. I bought my second pair of SWorks shoes, 2012, with dual BOA, for $150 used from a guy who rode them twice and they didn't fit. Then I had a BOA break. Warranty claim, got a new set of 2013 shoes. I had an issue with the toe box, and got a new set of 2014 under warranty. These are my current shoes. If they wear out and don't fail, I'll have no problem paying full price minus shop deal for a replacement. Can't beat SWorks warranty.

Here's a really specific question, but what the heck. I'm supposed to pick up a powertap wheel which originally had the comp hub but was upgraded to G3 last year. I'm interested in getting the Bluetooth cap for it as its only $50 on their site now. According to the description it says upgraded pro and elite models can accept the cap but i was wondering if essentially any model with the new cap can accept the Bluetooth. I sent an email to saris but figured I'd ask here anyway!

I think it depends. On Sram ones, it goes NDS. On Hollowgrams, it goes on the drive side.

Getting all the way to the end, these were sram cranks and they actually have a threaded bearing pre load adjustment set up, so no wavy washers.

yeah, all sram BB30s i've used have the preload adjuster. i haven't seen any in the last 2 model years, though.

So if you have a SRAM BB30 crank (Red SRM) with a preload adjuster, you do not need the wavy washer? SRAM BB30 BB, and I have some plastic spacers.
