Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think it was a 292. Might have been a 352. The oil passages in the heads would plug up easily and there was no good way to clean them so people put the external lines to lube the top end. It was called an "overhead sprinkler system".

I'm pretty sure Dad didn't intend to contribute as much as they ended up doing, but Mom controlled the purse and was more generous. We Smith Boys have had a tendency to make bad choices of vehicle. My MG, despite all the issues listed above, was NOT by any means the worst lemon.
EDIT: None of us had a car in high school. One brother had a car - a 1951 DeSoto - in ~1967 while in college. It gave up the ghost for good and all somewhere between Bluffton Ohio and home, IIRC.

My brain is mushy on stuff that far back but it was a pretty powerful. My brother blew the engine up though I’m sure I helped.

NOAA revised their prediction up several degrees so it was not as chilly as I expected. I also took a few pictures. This is a different area than the pics last week and this route has been chosen for minimal car traffic but some of the roads are busy. I wanted to get a lot more shots but we didn't stop enough.
We go on these quiet roads through some nice properties.

After a while we have to go back out for a bit. There is a gate ahead but no gate where we came in.

After a couple miles we get on this road. It's a beautiful road with big rollers but it can be busy.

Back in civilization we use the bike path to get across part of town.

There are some pretty cool bridges on the bike path. Didn't know there was a big bird in the pic until I got home.

Fast forward to this box canyon which is closed to cars for a few miles but it turns to dirt eventually so we turn back.

My friend's wife is a really good rider. She raced cat 2 bitd and is still a great climber.

I've been trying a rear view mirror and I hate it.

I find complete audiobook collections on YouTube. My eyes aren't good enough, anymore, to do much actual reading. I am a power user of Youtube, for other things as well. Tool maintenance has already been mentioned. I recently installed the cabin air filter for the Fit, via YouTube. I watch NFL highlights so I don't have to watch the whole game. I lubed the bearings on my dynamo hub with a YouTube video. I've repaired fans, learned woodworking skills, watched tool reviews. Steered clear of whole genres that I'm afraid to delve into. What would you like to see on video? Or hear on audio? YouTube has it.

A couple friends had them when I was a kid but I didn't get my own until I was about 25. Friend had a 250cc Montesa which wasn't running and he traded it to me for some work on his car. I got the thing running with a new pick up coil, or whatever it's called. Had a lot of fun with that old relic.

And now I'm off to my youtube chiropractor, who will lead me through exercises to prevent my jaw clamping tonight. And after that, an audiobook.

Well not YouTube!

Football, Xbox, and lots of movies and TV shows from not-YooToob. Like if I listed the streamers...

NFL+
Discovery+
Netflix
Hulu
Peacock
Disney+
AppleTV+
Prime

I THINK that's all of them.

Still sometimes can't think of what to put on.

Oh, after school officially ended, and he turned his phone back on, I texted him and he replied, "yup, I found it."

That's when I laid in to him about not contacting me, even though I expressly told him to, because I'd be calling and emailing various school and school transportation entities in an effort to track down his lost ****. I spent 45 min on hold on one call alone, and this kid didn't bother to get word out to call off the dogs.

My lord I hate GP5000s. I’m actually thinking about tossing my Boyds into a fire right now and then taking their remains and putting them into a trash compactor. Maybe then drive over whatever’s left a few times. And then going to a gun range. And an acid bath.

Send me the Boyd’s before you destroy them, and I’ll take you to the range. I have some things you might enjoy playing with.

Disc wheels?

Rim. And I’m a member at two clubs, both of which, conveniently, are in biking distance. It’s hard carrying an over/under 11 miles though. The other is closer, but ammo weighs so damn much.

Wasn't Boyd the manufacturer that specifically suggested to stay away from the GP5ks and their wheels? By all accounts, the GP5ks are a little tight and I'd wager that the Boyds are a smidge big, so it's probably about as bad as you can get.
