Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

it was 10 years old and falling apart. I decided to upgrade. Battery power is the future and the future is now. Embrace the future old timer.

Up early to do a 70 miler. Saw it was 42° and deciding to wait til at least 55° which means our 70 will probably now be a 50 which is ok.

Yesterday and today are washouts for rides. I am hoping to salvage the 3-day weekend with a ride tomorrow. No podium this week.

Hang in there, Doc. The podium is irrelevant.

Yes, one should never forget the mistakes one has made, especially the big expensive ones.

Set out to do 80 with the club yesterday. Not a ton of climbing but the pace would be high. A friend who I always enjoy riding with came along. He has been battling physical problems and hasn't done any longish rides in a long time so he planned to turn back early. I dropped out and rode back to the start with him for about 53 miles, his longest ride in months.

Yesterday's sorry ride was my last for the week. Currently out of town for the boy's 10th bday and mere hours away from giving him his first cell phone, gods help us.

Hah - "sorry" should have been "short," but I think Gboard's swipe interpretation may be suitable, too.

should I pull this piece of metal out? It has penetrated all the way through yet.

Was hoping to get more in this week than I did. Had a home over night plan and had my bike at the hotel we stay at in Newport News but we ever made it due to mechanical issues. Got home yesterday from my trip but the weather has been terrible here.

Pulled the tube off the cervelo, had a pinprick hole behind the valve.
