Nice try though.
But doesn't your neck get sore from having to support the extra grams of the cheaper helmet?

I've found it hard to buy an expensive helmet as well. I ended up with a Propero II instead of a prevail, even with a team discount, because they are basically the same thing, but the propero is like $150 cheaper.

That looks almost identical to my 3-year old S-Works. I might do the same thing.

paaaaahahaha - that's stellar.
I've never promised anyone that buying a fancy helmet will give them more than slight weight gains, venting gains, and style... but I've certainly heard co-workers do it.

Well done

I have a Bell Somethingorother. It came with the kits and the team jacket. It fits a lot like the Giro I used to have, which surprised me. I always thought Bell helmets fit rounder heads. Not this one. Works great.

That is beautiful.
When I was using Strava I used to get asked periodically to go smash someone's KOM if they were being doooooshie...
Funny part was only a few guys knew what my strava name is...

Love this.

You'd be surprised how many people get all angry when my club goes out and smashes some of the segments around here. /shrug strava is srs biznz. Full disclosure: many of them are faster than I and I'm either hanging on for dear life, or exploding at the front for as long as I can before peeling off.

We had a meet the team ride this weekend and I was taking to a new guy about starting to race. He said he hadn't done much racing but had some top time on a segment around here. I think he was dissapointed when I wasn't impressed.

I am guessing one needs a fancy shmancy computer with GPS to play that game?

A friend of mine created a segment for his 10 year old son last year to give him a little motivation to go fast. A local racer who segment hunts went out to purposefully take the segment so he could have KOM and successfully took it from the 10 year old. My friend told me what happened then suddenly the racer was no longer at the top. Someone topped his KOM (his speed was 30.8 mph over the 1/2 mile section) by a significant margin and went through at 33.2 mph. Well I guess he took some offence to it and said someone was driving a car with their Garmin on that there was no way that someone could go through there that quickly (it is a tricky section) and has been trying to beat it since.

Wonder what dooooosher did that?
The investigation continues...

Finally Lance has found something he can do to stay competitive without the hassle of drug testing.

Back when I rode around in sneakers and jeans on campus, they had cheap subsidized Bell helmets for $20 (trying to keep students safe). It worked just fine when it slid across the pavement in a crit this year. Didn't even know it until I saw it afterwards. It was pretty ugly though, compared with what most people wear.
