Anyone have any idea if a 165mm Omnium will fit on the single crimped version of the FTP?

so put a 120 axel in there and clamp it. they put some spring in there so the aluminum is only flexing one direction from its normal point.

just bolt the axel in.

drop in, bro.

nope. just thought I'd add fuel to the fire.

but in all seriousness, i wouldnt reccomend anyone put a miche crank on this if theyre looking for a 42mm chainline. My miche's spider was hitting the chainstays whenever i torqued up a hill and i have to have it at about 43.5 (which is actually good for my hub/cog combo) Thank god for an adjustable bb.

Purchased two FTPs in size 54 and both came with the ETC sticker and single crimp. Has anyone actually gotten a non crimped version? I have yet to see pics.

Sorta an off topic question, but would powder coating an aluminum frame like this be something possible, or would I run the risk of damaging the frame? I'm really not too big on logos and what not.

Thanks

There should be a crimp under the ETC sticker and a crimp at the "J"-ish area in the Fuji logo, yes? The single crimp version only has one crimp near the bottom bracket.

To get it powdercoated you would need to have it stripped to bare aluminum. Most PC places will offer this as a service or included in the PC price.

Ya, you got the non-crimped version...they all have 1 crimp, the revised ones have 2 crimps.

Ohh ok... I was under the impression that there were 3 versions.

No crimp
Crimp near BB
Crimp near BB and under the Fuji logo

So am I stuck with 44/13?

AFAIK there are three versions:

One crimp near BB
One crimp near BB, one crimp under FUJI logo
Curvy chainstay

The first two are known to have been sold via this Nashbar deal. The last one seems to be a later revision.

I have the version with the etc sticker and have installed Omniums without a problem in 175 length. If these fit, basically any crank will fit. There is plenty of room where the crank arms pass the chainstay (the main issue with omniums).

I got a so-called "crimped" chainstay, and I am planning to put a Miche Advanced crankset on it. The chainring is fine at 46T, but the arms at 165mm are not. I have used a longer 110mm Miche BB, but I still need to grind down the crankarms a bit at the tips to give comfortable clearance. Luckily, the frame is stiff enough not to have flex in this area. So, as others have pointed out and I will acknowledge, it is not the chainring clearance on the crimped frames, but crankarm length the potentially poses a problem.

What length BB are you using with your Miche crankset? Is it a Miche BB? I am planning to run the 110, the 107 would make the arms hit the stays. I have a one crimp frame. Also, what size chainring are you running- 46T standard or smaller/larger?

Im running a 107 miche, but i have the cups spaced to the right by like a mm or two. Im running a 49t chainring whithout a single issue with clearance.

So has anyone else put theirs together?

Still trying to debate on which cranks/fork I'm going to have to purchase for this frame.

I just rode it for the first time.

the I05tr fork is AWESOME on this bike. it's seriously comfortable. my nashbar cross bike with specialized carbon sirrus fork on 23's was FAR more harsh. and this is with b43's and an SLR...

shoulders are TIGHT! did a quick town loop and man do i love this bike. it's so smooth with its power transfer and so stable and stiff. it feels really planted, but i am sure that's just the brisbane's talking.

I will say, the I05tr fork is really really nice for the road. It's got sh**apple**cktons of tire clearance and looks like it would fit a regular brake. it's nicely shaped for both traditional and newer frames with a nice even taper and slope to the blades. as long as you have an integrated headset, it will sit fairly flush... though it's actually got a wider crown than my ht by a millimeter or two.

then again, so does my ritchey carbon integrated hs topcap... so maybe the ftp head tube is just low profile.

the fork is very smooth in neutralizing chatter but really lets you cut aggressively when you need to. it's really not that heavy without 30cm of steerer, and you only need a third of the steerer on most ftps.

the 12k weave looks brilliant in the sunlight. I like the finish a lot, it's not too glossy but it's not crazy marbled.

as for the bike... well... the outboard bb cranks are flex proof and so is the ****ing frame. there's more flex in my seat rails and handlebars than anywhere else and this thing scoots like lightning, even with these big heavy wheels.

duh, clearance is an issue- but the 46t on my cranks has space to spare and the chainline is perfect with the included spacers. say what you will; these origin8 track pro cranks compliment the frame nicely. i originally thought "shoot I should have spent 30-40 more on omniums!" but now i'm not so sure. if i do, it will be so i can put these on the kilo and get rid of the hideous ultim8 cranks i have now. though performance wise, those cranks are good too.

all in all, i feel great on this bike and it entices me to ride harder and faster... which is about the highest praise there is for a bike in my mind. it's a huge improvement over the visp. they're two different types of bikes, really.

i feel like i've reached

Do it, Kinlins are great!

That Leader fork looks amazing. I'm stuck with a stock Fuji FC-770.

So does anyone finally know what crankset will work with the single crimped version of the FTP?
