Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Latest outrage was Bouhanni PUNCHING another rider in the face. You'd think DSQ right? This was WAY more than an unintentional elbow. Nope, this sprinter, who is 1:28:20 down in the GC was sanctioned 1 minute in the standings and like $200CHF. Not to mention in the same stage yesterday he cut off several people INTENTIONALLY in the sprint (you see him look back twice to make sure it would work). Also should be DSQ if things are consistent, right? I guess I forgot the "rules don't apply to French riders" part.

What a dirty ass rider. Doesn't belong in the sport.

I've gotta find a clip of this guy being punched in the face. Kickball league starts tonight. We're told to bring mixed drinks in Gatorade bottles as the park doesn't allow public consumption. What did I sign up for?

Monday afternoon is chat with a recruiter. Hi my name is topslop1 and I'm a job hopper... so long as there's more $ awaiting.

I'm just in it for the drama. I hear there's some sort of race going on, but who cares about that?

The Kiwi Bauer who got punched said this in an interview, lololololol:

I have no problem with what happened today. One second after it occurred I looked around; I felt a brush on my shoulder and I thought someone was tapping me to ask for an autograph. And I thought 'who is this young girl who wants an autograph? This isn't the moment!'

On that department, the Tour has delivered so far I think. Still hope we get some more. A bit of racing would be nice too.

Sweet! The rattle on my bike was solved recently, when the plastic cone fell off of my 5500 shifter. Whew.

I have turned the corner. I rode uptown to go to the bank, pay the electric bill, and buy gasoline for the weedeater. It wasn't quite second nature, but neither was it a struggle. It did wear me out though. It's so good to finally see the other side.

I'm flying out with my oldest daughter to see the ecplise. To N. GA, which is not ideal, but where there's free lodging and family. 40% chance of no clouds, though

Client: "We stopped Medication A yesterday because we didn't think it was working and today Fluffy is worse"

Heathpack: "Ok, so we need to go back on Medication A then, right?"

Client: "Well, we also stopped Medication B two days ago because we ran out and forgot to get it refilled."

Heathpack: "The problem with that is now we don't know if it was stopping Medication A or running out of Medication B that caused the symptoms to get worse."

Client: "Well... we also cut the dose of Medication C in half on Monday."

Heathpack: "What? Why did you do that? We were supposed to keep Medication C stable for another week."

Client: "We weren't sure it was working."

Also, strava says we were lapping at about 27-28 mph when I got dropped last night, which Strava apparently thinks requires ahout 400 watts sustained on that course. Given how hard it felt and how quickly the field split up when it ramped up, that's probably realistic. Race with cat 1/2 guys, win stupid prizes.
