Whoohoo! I even get a postcard to boot!

Looking forward to much cotter removal silliness! And curious to see what these cranks weigh, since the only reference I have for steel cranks is 1800+ grams

The cotter press has landed at Le Grande HQ.

I have 3 project crapolas that need the press, so I will be busy tonight. cudak888 just say the word if you'd like it headed your way.

It's looking as if I've succeeded - I was able to fix the drive side with fire. Pretty sure the left side will acquiesce as soon as I bend the top of the cotter straight again.

That last bike was a scrap pile special, and one that I wanted to save. Don’t plan to keep.

2 down, one to go.

The third one is an interesting one. Not ready to share it with the world, but it is pretty unique (true), pretty rare (very true), and pretty special (absolutely 100% not true).

And we had success! 3 for 3, the hat trick of cotter pressing. Unless I see a sad cottered dog at the co-op today in need of pressing, it is ready for the next in line! Mucho thanks to cudak888 , Mad Honk and Iowa10Speed !!

The co-op was closed, so not opportunistic garbage scrap pile pickups for me (for the day, haha). So I got the 3 done, and we are finished.

Really appreciate the use of the tool. Anyone else hit me up when you are ready for it. I'm digging' the pass around thing, so now I'm really looking forward to the box o' crap.

PM incoming. All the parts are coming in for 2 bikes. I haven’t dealt with installing cottered cranks since high school when I used the “bigger the hammer the better” technique.

Mike

So I totally tried to get this shipped off today, rode my bike to the post office and all, and it was closed!!!

My apologies!

I'm betting it's also closed tomorrow and Monday as well, but I will check. It will go out next available opportunity. Thank you for your patience!!!

But due to its 'miniature' nature, it is still offending the sensibilities of plenty, so we are still in good (bad?) standing

Did the press ever make it to you? I haven't checked tracking, but probably should. Hope it did!

The Cotter Press arrived yesterday. I was hoping to get a chance to use it today. But, thus far, haven’t got there yet. I may still get a chance to get the cottered cranks on the Fothergill later today. I’ll wait on the Hetchins until someone needs the press or until I have more of the parts.

The last piece for this phase of the 40’s Fothergill was to put on a period correct crank set.

Upgrade to the Fothergill

A Chater Lea round arm crankset showed up this week. So the cotter press came in handy again.
