How is it that if a thread is CLOSED, you can be told you have the full permissions in it?
https://www.bikeforums.net/singlespee...ay-i-1135.html
I am assuming those permissions are GLOBAL but in the past restricted threads and closed threads would have different on no permissions listed.

Suppress "you've been quoted" emails?
I looked in my control panel, but didn't see a checkbox which would allow me to disable "you've been quoted" notification emails. They might be useful in the rare case where I am not subscribed to a thread to which I post, but in every instance I've seen, that's not the case. I wind up getting two emails, one for the reply, one "you've been quoted."
Is there a way to disable such notifications? I suspect there is, but I just missed it. Even if it can't be disabled, in my mind, the best choice would be to only send the quote mail if the user isn't also subscribed to the thread.

Did Tom Stormcrowe's original posting on that for vB4 offer any help here?

From: field on update emails changed in the past day or two
I recently noticed that my bikeforums emails stopped being properly filtered by Gmail. They used to come from a couple different emails within the bikeforums.net domain. I see these:
siubluewind@bikeforums.net
tom@bikeforums.net
Now they come from:
tyson.yen@internetbrands.com
Can you switch back to sending notification emails from someoneorother@bikeforums.net? I assume internetbrands.com hosts multiple forum websites. It would be best to send out notifications from an email associated with each particular forum's IP domain.
Thx,

Getting 30 of them might be making spam filters antsy though.

Haven't had any false positives from the Gmail spam algorithm, but all BF emails land in my inbox instead of getting filtered into my bikes folder.

Tyson.Yen? Okay, no fowl puns.
I'll tell you what some of the problem might be. I think it's IE/Edge users that don't realize that A. the Windows Live Mail 2012 protocol hasn't been supported by Microsoft since June 30, 2016 and Facebook Connect stopped working as formerly after that as well as some other site's email notifications, B. If you import your Hotmail/MSN/Outlook whatever account into another webmail or email platform your results may mirror or be worse than before and...
C. Windows 10 just sucks. You would not be the first to hear that from a vBulletin site owner or veteran user.
And I used Vista in a pinch for a while...

Here's another anomaly. Reading through a post from April, I noticed in one post that the poster had included some subscripts using [SUB]...[/SUB], but that those tags were ignored. Is it possible that the version of the software you moved from supported subscripts, but that the current version doesn't? If so, it might be nice to get them back.

Ever since the change the background color for my threads behind the writing has changed to gray that fades to darker gray (almost black) towards the bottom. I can hardly read the black writing near the end of each post.
Is this a setting change I can perform? I'd prefer a white background. Thx.

The Mobile version is stark black and white with gray and colored text but you lose most of the editing capabilities. No gradients I could see in Windows 7/IE 11.

I'm currently on the default setting and tried the other PC/Laptop setting, but not the Mobile setting. With the amount of typo's and editing I do, I'm not sure the mobile version will work for me.
Not sure why each post box needs to fad to black at the bottom? If the post boxes were just solid light gray it would be much better for readability.
Also repeatedly getting:
"Do you want to open or save ead4255d562b37670e706572946392c.js from a,komoona.com [open] [save] [cancel]"
It appears in a pop-up at the bottom of the screen, to which I always [cancel] or just close. What PITA!
FYI: Using older MS OS, something like Vista or XP (can't be upgraded)

Oh man...why VISTA? I hated IE9! That's why I'm running 7 and IE 11.

Thanks. What do you mean by "drastically not 3"? I'm sorry to bring up a possibly site subject, but what motivates this change? Pointer, PM or email are fine so as not to rehash old stuff.

This is vB 3 like Episcopalians are Catholic Lite. It's definitely not vB 4. It's like Pioneer hybrid corn.

Yeah, it's an old crummy system that is used for internet surfing and nothing else. My "real" computers are independent stand alone devices and the ones with important data on them never ever even connect to the internet at all (old school security menthod that can't be hacked).
Unfortunately this old Vista/IE9 dog can't be taught new tricks (can't be updated)...

That's like running a beat-up car because it won't matter if it falls apart or gets wrecked. As for updates, you probably need to repair the Windows Update. Since you are using Vista you are already indoctrinated for 7 and 8.1, do yourself a favor and get one or the other installed while you can.
PS if you meant I can't get 10 for free, that's OVER. You don't want 10.

Oddly enough, most of my desktops are old Dells. 10 is a memory hog. I've got this old Vostro 410 screaming with 3 GB RAM. Don't need to take my computer around with me.
Make sure you have enough RAM installed and that your network doesn't have gum under the seats.
Over the years the biggest complaints about Windows upgrades have been that they suck memory and resources and lately that they phone home too much. Add to that automatic updating that's hard to pinpoint when diagnosing problems and too much of the ubergeek factor.
