Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, that is crazy, but you do have to keep this in perspective. If it was a car you'd be out thousands. This is a bike, you got hosed for $100 or $200 tops. And in the end if the bike performs well (it's a friggin BIKE, it's not too complicated, it won't tend to break down like a car) the issue would mostly appear to be in your head, even if you have a legit gripe. I'm just amazed that eBay sided with the seller because A) they're clearly very wrong and B) from my experience that's not what they ever do.

it is a shame this happened, but i'm with pcad on this one. if you bought the bike to ride, who really cares if its 2 years older than you thought it was. you must have seen pics of it ahead of time, so you were happy with the paint scheme, as long as it's in the condition you expected (new), i wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

if you bought it to build up and flip or something like that, well, then you got screwed screwed.

wouldn't lose sleep? what's wrong with you people. OP has been diddled. I don't care if I've been diddled 1 penny or a gazillion pounds. A diddling is a diddling and it will irk me and grind away at my soul until I am just a quivering mess unless I undo the diddle.

If you like the frame, ask for a $150 discount instead of returning it.

No one diddles the coasting. No one I tell you. No one!

Except banks, insurance companies, utilities companies, government agencies, transport companies, faceless corporate bureaucracies etc. etc.

No one else. Never. I will not allow it, damn it.

This is really splitting hairs, IMO, and it reeks of buyer's remorse. If the frame hasn't changed from '08 to '10 and you paid a good price on an NOS frameset, then just ride the friggin' thing and be happy.

+1 Like the wise one said, it's not a car. It's a bike frame. It is new and other then the year of the frame there isn't any issue. You can get in a dispute with the seller, and after a month or so arguing you can ship it back to the seller (and probably have to pay shipping). Then start the process over, looking for another frame. Or you can build this one up and be riding it. I would try to settle with them for $100-200 and just ride it.

The steps I would take, in order:

1. Remove sticker
2. Assemble bicycle
3. Ride

But, that's just me.

It seems the possibility that they used a 2008 frame on a 2010 bike exists.

There are some really humorous posts here. With the amount of hand-wringing that most of us do (on here and IRL) over the smallest of our bike purchases, I can only imagine some of the responses if this had happened to some of the other posters (myself included) here.

Those of you who would say "eh" and move on, I tip my hat to you. From my short time on BF, you're not the norm.

Having looked at the listing, it seems that the OP has left negative feedback, and rightly so. The listing clearly stated a 2010 frame and the sticker indicates otherwise. I hope the OP gets to a point where they are satisfied with the resolution. I know that if it were me, I'd be ticked off every time I looked at the frame. If it built it and rode it, every time I was on it I would be reminded that I got "taken", even if only a little. But, that's me.

What's the bottom bracket like?

Oh, and, OP has a right to complain. If you went and bought a 2010 model car only to find out it wasn't you'd be pissed.

I hope they follow this through via Paypal or chargeback on their credit card. It's false advertising.

The regular handwringers on this site would be going bananas.

Can one even undo a diddle? The best I could hope for is simply stopping before the diddling's done. Either that or allow the diddling, then wait five minutes to be diddled again....

Should be an easy case to win if you're telling us everything correctly.

I sold my last stuff on eBay about a year ago. I basically got screwed by a buyer over a $50 item and just figured it's not worth it anymore because of the feedback problems for sellers.

just ride it? buyers remorse? move on? really?

no way in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks the great pcad "just rides it." you buy a product believing it is one thing and it turns out to not be that one thing you wanted or intended to buy. i dont see any reason to settle here and just move on. the OP should pursue a resolution to the extent they are comfortable with. clearly, that aint to just ride it for this OP. later.
