Sounds like it was a real nice classic rendezvous. (I feel like I’ve heard that phrase before…)

And sorry for your loss.

Three observations, John.

First, As someone who as been there ... done that, I offer sincere condolences on the loss of your father at age 81 (mine died at 82 after a 7-month bout of pancreatic cancer -- at least my wife and I had a really good weekend in Utah with my stepmom and him when he was actually feeling halfway decent).

Second, I have had very memorable and enjoyable personal meetings with four different fellow BFers when each was visiting San Diego. One borrowed my old Peugeot PKN-10 for a few days; the other borrowed the Bianchi for about a week. We did get some rides together, and then they were free to go on their own expeditions. My normal offer is "bring pedals (unless you like old school toeclips), shoes, and a helmet, and I can provide everything else."

Third, next time I am in Chicago, I want to see that incredible bike condo of yours!

Our shared passion for bicycling and for vintage bicycles in particular unites so many of us here.

Deepest sympathies on the loss of your father, John. That's such a huge loss. May you always have happy memories of your times together. Thanks again for hosting the open house at your bike condo, it was awesome. Look forward to seeing you again.
