Giro Del Cielo... thoughts?
Anyone familiar with the TT? The profile looks pretty up and down and i'm not sure what the road conditions are like... wondering if I should start playing with my clip on aerobars or not.

Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked that it is back. These are the frustrations that sometimes come with freelance life.
I hope it comes back as a stage race, eventually.

Don't hold your breath. I don't think it's going to happen. It's really not in the promoter's interest. The crit series is incredibly popular, undoubtedly cheaper to run for equivalent production value, and a bigger draw for locals. And also less likely to face local opposition as well, because the effects on traffic are a lot more limited.

Someday the pendulum will swing the other way, the crits will be made into stage races and Cross will give way to Time Trials. Someday. Someday.

@Ygduf I see a picture of a Specialized guy on the top of the M40 podium, my teammate got second.

He's won like 5-6 premier races out here this year without much team around him to help. The world champ stripes are from track, but he's always on the podium at nationals. Couldn't be a nicer guy as well. Has driven me to many very-early races that I otherwise would not have gone to.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned in this thread but 'The Cream Will Rise' Circuit Race is now offering free entry for women racers, as well as upgrade points for them as well. You can register on bikereg and we'll refund your entry fee to you when you pick up your number. I'm one of the promoters, so if you have any questions for me feel free to ask here or in a PM.

just got the email about GMSR. the promoter puts on a great event and has an awesome pre-reg policy but.....damn.....the full rate is $315-$330?
and the early fee is $265-280?
definitely gives me pause.

is that high or low compared to what you guys have out in the West?
Most expensive stage race i've done is $130, and it was more like $90 just two years ago.

most stage races i've done are 110-180 (for 3-5 stages). yes, some are in lower-cost areas (silver city, NM); others are not (san dimas, CA). KSR was ~$250. $300+ is a bit of a stunner.

I plan on doing it.. looks like good practice for Millersburg and GMSR later this year and it's sort of close.

Also this is another reason I am sort of glad I can't climb.

When I did stage races in 1997 I paid $90 each for two 3 day stage races. Actually a Junior's parents paid my entry (and hotel and food and travel and...) to act as his chaperone, but still. $90 almost 20 years ago.
Also this is another reason I am sort of glad I can't climb.

KSR was high-priced (but totally worth it!), and perhaps GMSR would be, too. i understand costs vary from region to region, but my experience suggests that single day races are basically the same $$ wherever i go. something else must be going on.

We were pleasantly surprised by how cheap GDC is, and almost did Tour de Gretna because it too was on the cheap side ($100). KSR/GMSR is a lot since it's the two of us. Becomes a $1000 trip. Getting sick at KSR was a real bonehead move.

The crit course is the same as the Augusta Fairgrounds crit that is run on Tuesday nights there. Winding turns and a windy back stretch.
The strava segment for road race course is below. The road race course is more rolling than hilly. When I did it back in 2014 and even a heavier guy like me was able to finish with the main field.

trying to decide if i want to do capital region. on the one hand i've never done it and it's always been on my "to do" list. on the other hand, i can't remember the last weekend i didn't race and i wouldn't mind a weekend at home before intelligentsia cup starts (next friday). also, rain.

Decide appropriately. If you're going to taper for Intelligentsia (you'd be a fool not to IMO), that needs to start TODAY.
