I had a nice car-free day. Walked a couple miles across town and back to mail off a part to a fellow Forumite, then walked another couple miles to my local LBS to pick up the Somec, now with perfectly true rims. I then took off on a slow-ish feel-out ride on the Sammamish River trail down to Marymoor Park velodrome. This particular bike was perfect for the day; mid-60s, slight breeze, clear skies with the odd cloud. I'd almost forgotten how nice a slow, nowhere-to-be-anytime-soon bike ride could be.
What made today different is that instead of being kitted out for riding I was kitted out for the street in Bermuda shorts, a long-sleeved button-down shirt and Sperry Topsiders. I'd walked over to pick up my bike, remember. It has literally been a couple of decades since I've ridden in such a getup. My round trip was a shade under 25 miles.
I think I channeled @Lascauxcaveman today; as a result, my nether regions hurt much less at ride's end than expected

I hopped on the first northbound train of the day to Poughkeepsie and arrived at 8:20AM ready to do some exploring on my Fuji Ace. I headed west over the Walkway Over the Hudson and headed toward New Paltz. I then rode a loop on a portion of the Shawangunk Wine Trail before heading back east across the Hudson then south to Cold Spring where I caught the return train to be home before 4. 89 miles in just under 5 1/2 hours of riding through gorgeous scenery with perfect weather on mostly quiet roads in addition to 13 miles to and from the train stations made for a nice century total for the day.

I'm gobsmacked you can WALK four miles on pavement in TOPSIDERS and not pull up lame, though. That's not doing to bad for an old guy.

Casual ride around the reservoir Lake Williams
Two hour Fall ride around the lake. Some trees are still all green, some in color, some have dropped all leaves.
Cold storm front moving in from the Great Lakes, could watch the weather changing.
Funny how a bike ride always makes you feel better.

Today was one of the few days that I actually had time for myself so I decided to go for a longish spin. Not much of a workout but the scenery was wonderful. It was a bit chilly 40F when I left but was a comfortable 55F by the time I got home.

I went for a 30km, 400m elevation ride around Burnaby and Vancouver to Deer Lake (pictured), Burnaby Lake and Trout Lake. Most of these are glorified ponds. 1972 Raleigh Professional with newly fixed seat clamp.

Beautiful shot with a beautiful bike, one of my favorites, have one and two ratty frames, the nicest one I have ever seen is on its way to me now. Glad you got the seatclamp squared away.

Thanks. Did you get the one from Fairview? I was tempted as it is indeed pristine and the price was fair but I had this groupset on a 1979 Raleigh Competition GS for some time until I came across this frameset and moved the parts over. My frame isnt as pristine but it has the birdsmouth lugs. Overall very happy I was finally able to ride my grail bike.

As for the ability to walk far in Topsiders, well, they've been my go-to off-bike shoe since the early 80s. I could prolly run a 5k in them

@ascherer Lovely photos. I first noticed those formations a few weeks back and wondered how long it would be before human or natural interference would alter their appearance. I am pleased to see that it remains unmolested.

There were signs on those cairns a few days ago explaining that no glue or anything held them together and that people should be careful and not let children near them. The signs are gone now for some reason. I wonder how many people build them. I also wonder how long the city will tolerate them.

1972 Peugeot PX-10 out to the beach and back with a fair bit of headwind...seemingly both ways. 55.4km, 27.5km/h and 227m of elevation. Not my best but it was a nice way to spend Sunday afternoon.
