Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mine have improved since retiring but I still get some hand pain.
I started getting wrist pain last summer and it came to a peak in the Fall. I really thought that I might have broken it at some point. I consulted an orthopedist who did his thing and deemed it tendonitis which makes sense since the back of my hand would burn at times.

Anyway, he showed me the x-ray and said I had remarkably little arthritis in my hand/fingers for a 70 year old.

Still don't know how I got tendonitis in my wrist/hand unless it was running a mouse in PC video games.

How many miles, roughly? My eTap bike has over 10,000 miles and is 4 years old.

Edit: Changed battery this morning and the battery cover shows marks so I've obviously changed the battery before. Oh, well, better safe than sorry.

Feeling a little better today. The steroid really messed me up yesterday.

I hope the worst is over. Had to call out for my trip tomorrow unfortunately.

Plugged my xbox in yesterday for the first time in 4 years. Took 8 hours to update everything. Started Borderlands the pre sequel but lost interest really fast. Don’t know how I used to spend hours playing these games.

I wonder how much fitness I have lost these days. I havnt registered for the Crit May 1st, I am wondering if I should skip that one. I don’t really want to but I think I will be weaker than the last race opposed to stronger.

It appears he was hit by a train while cycling in his hometown of Montclair, New Jersey. The 57 year old media critic and journalist, did not survive.

Have you ever heard of a cyclist being killed by a train?

Getting a bolt was a severe ass pain. Hardware store was a no-go, went to 2 different shops. It’s pouring, so I won’t know until tomorrow but I’m going to try and repeat the action that caused the break. Regardless I’m going to stuff a spare chain in my bento box for my “gravel race” Saturday.

I was going to ride it on 28s, but since we got about an inch of rain overnight with more to come as well as rain all day Saturday, gonna run something bigger

My wife hasn’t worked in three years. She got tired of the nonsense in her C level job and decided she wanted a change- so she took the LSATs and was going to go to law school. Then COVID happened and completely screwed the timeline. She didn’t want to do her 1L remotely, so she didn’t go.

She’s been putting feelers out there and will probably go back to work soon, just needs to find the right job.

Seems plausible if someone was trying to do so and crashed. Hard to imagine it simply being a misjudgement of timing when you'll clear the tracks. Are you really going to cut it that close?

There was a pic recently on Twitter of Fausto Coppi going under a closed rail crossing arm at what appears to be at speed. Incredible pic of some incredible riding skill. I wish I could find it.

During the days of beating the train equaled a breakaway that would likely stick?
