Pumpkin, back in the house after escaping during the kitchen remodel. He appreciates the lack of chaos. He's said very little about the new countertops.

I trapped this guy on the Midtown Greenway back in August. Don't know if he was dumped or semi feral, but he was only a kitten and I couldn't leave him there.

Henry the cat and his best bud, Howie. They're both gone now, we still have cats but these two were pretty unique. Henry (before he was "Henry") was a stray at the neighbors, we had Howie in the backyard with us and Henry made a beeline for Howie and started rubbing against him like he was a long lost friend. When we took Howie in the cat trotted in right beside him and pretty much took the place over.

My old rescue cat, Squinky, with our greyhound Chloe. Squink belonged to a family member who had a lot of problems. Took her in when she was 17, she's now 20 & going strong.

Her full name is "Squidink". It's the sound a big rock makes when you drop it into a full privy. Poor cat.

I ride through there every day in the summer.

I would have picked him up in a second as well.

Good on you.

Archer would have been a good name, but he was already a Julian when he took to lounging in SA boxes.

I do too; it's part of my commute to work. It took me a week to trap the little bugger, but it all worked out in the end. Tonight I'm especially glad he's inside with me. I don't know how anything can live when it's -25 out there.

Talouse... doing a kitten impersonation.

Senegals also purr when they are happy.

Thunderhead has been settling in well to her new Canadian home... and has warmed up to her new sister.

Thanks, it is rough we had 6 cats from the same litter and Lil Kris was the first one we lost at 8yrs old. Stripe is my oldest at 10 and it's going to brake my hart when he's gone, he is my buddy.

Just so you all know. We are a childless couple, married 35 years.
We're basically trapped by this blizzard, can't leave town, roads are closed, this morning it is -15 outside.

Yesterday with it impossible to leave town because of the blizzard, our little Lucy took a dramatic turn for the worse, being that taking her to the Veterinarian was not feasible, nor would any cure have been possible, it was her time.
I set-up camp in the living room last night, and I was with her the whole time. She crossed the rainbow bridge about 02:00 this morning. She seemed to be in no pain, she was semi-conscious in my arms those last few hours, and above all, she knew she was loved. A new experience for me, to be with one of our babies when passing simply of old age.
During the day yesterday, I was grief stricken, but as the evening and night progressed, it turned into something almost spiritual. I thought happy thoughts of what a fabulous kitty she has been, life on this Earth, and how it all must end.
The wife and I are OK with this, we knew the time was near, that time came, and it went as well as one could have expected.
Born in a box on our porch on August 1st 1995. She lived 18 years and 5 months, and knew she was loved every single day of her life. ~ RIP LUCY, you little angel ~

So sorry. But that's the important thing to be there for them when it's that time. It sucks, and it hurts like anything, but it's the least thing you can do for everything they've done for you.

Best wishes.

I feel your grief Hoss. I lost a very special someone yesterday, rough times. Perhaps the roughest so far. Luckily there's the 'Cat Thread', for some needed distraction. Unfortunately I have no cats, but my sis has three. Here's Rufus, sweet enough to give me a pad on the shoulder:
