I went out for an easy spin around the valley this morning.
I checked out a newly paved section just north of Ernies Grove which had a nice little hill climb with great views as you descended back into the valley.
Seat sniffers abound in this neck of the woods

Clanked around on the fat bike. First snow worth anything. At around 5PSI in the tires it's like riding a cloud.

OK, I remembered my camera today, so I jammed a lot of pics into one ride. This is essentially a ride around the Northwest corner of Lake Washington, from Magnuson Park, a mile or 2 downhill from where I live, up to Kenmore, where I often stop at the Log Boom park, for a rest. Actually, this first post is Magnuson Park & Matthews Beach, I'll need to post again, for all my pics. There's definitely some marshland along the way, with ducks & gulls & geese & crows being very prevalent. Watch where you sit, LOL.

Continuing from Matthews Beach up to Kenmore. I had good timing, and while I smoked one on that pier, a tug boat and a sea plane both came by. I think they smelled it, LOL.

I finally got out yesterday. The weather is so nice here this time of year that we should be stoned for not riding daily. 72 km on the back road to the north coast. I took the bus home. I've fallen badly out of shape since I passed 60.

The weather in Port Dover ON was great today, a balmy 4C (40F) so off to Lake Erie to see if anyone was on the beach, but alas it was not to be.
As an aside the Planet Bike Cascadia ATB fenders on the Raleigh worked like a charm. The bike and I stayed clean for 16km of about town riding.

I finally had a day off with some good weather and I took advantage and was able to get out for 48 miles today. Warm at 45, but kind of sloppy from all the snow melting. I rode my Dawes Galaxy which has a brand new pair of challenge Almanzo tires. These tires are great; fast and comfortable.
Scituate Reservoir near the horseshoe dam in North Scituate
Old Mill ruins in Scituate. This mill was located in the old village of Saundersville. When the Scituate Reservoir was made in the 1920s 7 villages in Scituate were condemned and flooded, including most of Saundersville. There were mills everywhere in Scituate because there was/is such an abundance of rivers and streams. There were over 20 mills operating in Scituate during the heydays of the 1860s.
I'm not sure if these ruins are from the old mill built by Stephen Greene (pre 1835) or the newer mill built by Isaac Saunders (1835). The older mill is labelled braid mill on the map below and the newer, or upper mill is the cotton mill. Both mills burned in separate fires between 1895-1905 and were not rebuilt. (Both on the right of map; Remington Cotton Mill, on the left, is submerged.) Both of these manufacturers came from the state's elite. Stephen Greene's family gave their name to a village in western Coventry RI and Isaac Saunders was a Civil war era Lt. Governor of RI.
My intention was to ride some dirt roads today, but I only tried 2 which had the consistency of thawing peanut butter with wet, slippery, frozen sections, so I put off the a more thorough test of the Almanzos until the conditions are better.

I got in a short and brisk ride last night before the snow landed. Just a regular route that I take heading out towards Everett.

I never tire of these pictures of ruins! Here in California we have to go way out in the desert or high in the mountains to find any sorts of ruins.
