What did you do for your Hybrid today

I only put it into practice yesterday when there were a couple of people walking on the pathway I was riding on. This was after 11 pm so it was pretty quiet. I think I was about 30 metres from them when I let out the ding and was surprised at how quickly they turned around – also they seemed to have a puzzled look as to what they just heard.
The bell seems well made and I think the cost is justified, but I wonder I long will it last. All in all I like it, but I wish I got the smaller one.

Made Some Changes, Dropped Some Weight
I had some parts in the garage that were for bikes that I got rid of (and about $100 in my pocket) and decided to put them on my DS4. This dropped the weight of the bike from 28.57lbs stock to 23.50lbs. Below is what I did to the bike. Parts removed were stock and info on them can be found HERE.
XT M8000 Crank 1x11
Blackspire Snaggletooth 36T Chainring
XT M8000 RD & 11-40 Cassette
XT Brakeset (I still have to shorten the lines)
Bontrager RXL Stem
Bontrager RXL Carbon Handlebars
Bontrager Affinity Elite Saddle
Stan's Crest rims with Maxxis Rambler tires - setup tubeless
XT M8000 Crank 1x11

Impressive weight saving.
My 1x setup is on the way as well. Went with a Race Face. Hopefully it has the quality of Shimano. Would be nice to drop a pound or so from the stock 3x and square taper bb.

That is very impressive.
What pedals are you using?

That's a sweet looking DS4. I'm doing the 1x10 on my mountain bike. Will consider doing on my DS3 as well after seeing yours. Let me know if you want to get rid of some of your OEM parts. I would be interested in your Hydraulic brakes and drive train.

I have the brake set but the drive train already has a new home. PM me if you want to talk about the brakes.

Right? I thought about using a carbon seat post I have but it is the wrong size. Then I thought about it and I just felt like a weight weenie.

Added a rear trunk bag. Front one was just too small for spare tube, tools, patch kit, locks, camera, notebook, book, kitchen sink.... lol.
Someone told me I should add something carbon to my bike.... So I did that too. I added a pencil to my bag.

Simple tasks...took ages
I had all the bits to finish off my new build for a week or so and yesterday started to do all the jobs. Rear innertube...total nightmare. Couldn't get the hump out of tyre. Bought a new tube....same thing. Wasn't inflating enough. Once I finally bit the bullet and hit 60psi there was an almighty pop. I thought I'd blown it but instead the tyre was seating itself. So,24 hours of inflating, deflating, on, off and soapy liquid. What a lesson. Did the Tektro mini v brakes and what a blo..y job that was too. Tricky little things. Finally the gear cables and bolt torque checks before my first ever ride on her. No dramas and a big grin resulted. Brakes are beyond my expectation and pull up really fast.
Learned how to put tyres on without levers too so a worthy experiment in the end. Too dark to take pics but i'll get some up soon. It's a real eyeful now and weighing in at 16 lbs 12oz. I want to get it under 16lbs and will eventually. Just another £100...without my wife noticing. Any tips on that most welcome 😂

Here is it then...
So I thought I'd let you see the poor thing as I got her.
I sort of fell in love with it when I saw the seat stays and curvy top tube - which is silly I know.
We all love our bikes for different reasons I guess.
Believe it or not she was going to the local tip and I just asked if I could take it.....the rest as they say....

Finally
So she's weighing in at 16 Ibs 12 oz with the potential to drop a bit further.
I've got a new Crane Creek headset to come to replace the terrible steel thing they pressed in
and I'm after some full carbon forks ( legs and steerer ) to replace the 700 gram forks that came with it.
So maybe another 200 g ish to drop.
The bike is loaded with titanium bosses, bolts and washers anywhere I can get then in...and there's more to come.
On the road she's quiet, fast and smooth and I grin at the response I get when I put some power into the pedals.
OK...she's not a ' full on ' carbon racer but I've not ridden a bike this light before - it's so lovely.
Hills ?
What hills....?!!
I'm slightly over £700 down but where could I get a bike for that price that weighs so little, is dripping in Dura Ace bits and looks like that ?
I also learned a lot too from this build, particularly taking my time instead of rushing to get it out.
Been there !
