1980 Trek 510 set up as a townie. Sadly needs most of the drivetrain replaced at the moment.

My Magical Mystery Bike

I bought this as a frame on eBay. The woman I bought it from had it built up as a single speed. She thought it was a Miyata 912 but from the frame number and the lugs and cable routing I have determined it is an '82 Miyata Pro or 1200. I'm not sure which. The story is that before the previous owner, the bike was the Sycip shop bike and they painted it orange and added the Sycip decals. I have other road bikes so I built it up to just throw a leg over and ride on the nearby paths. I did consider building it up truer to its original use but I wanted to use the cool orange stem and it is too long for me to use with drops. I'm glad I built it up this way. I ride this one more than any other bike I own. It is quick, nimble and climbs well. Definitely one of a kind.

I love this bike!

Suntour XC power ratchets with Rivy style inboard shifter mounting is ideal.

Congrats!
Nice bike set up similar to how I set up mine.

Love those vintage Suntour Power Ratchet shifters..

I used some from a DT shifter on Velo Orange or Riv Bike , I forget which , thumbie mounts on my 1982 Trek 614.

My Carlton already had some North Road bars fitted when I got it but eventually changed them for some risers, this is in it's un-restored condition the day it was given to me.

And this is where I find I don't have a photo of it with the risers so here it is in better condition for the time being.
