Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shh. There are people for these things.

If it were winter I might give it a go, since we have a space heater. Not in the summer.

Why not? You’ll have it fixed long before a tech comes out.

I agree there are people for that, but I wouldn’t wait in the heat for someone to show up between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm tomorrow. Or maybe the next day if they are too busy.

Battery 1 lasted 30 minutes and battery 2 was still going at 29 minutes when I was done with all of my lawns. Had to do it today with Fred on the way. Might be a nothing burger but better safe than sorry.

That was a fun group ride. I almost got dropped because the effing FD dropped the chain again and I had to stop to fix it. Charged hard and caught the group which easily had 50 cyclists, maybe 70. They were all serious. I passed a decent number of them up the long climb but got passed by several on the descents as I am a wussy descender. Still, 100% fun.

I sure am seeing a lot of stock cars on road courses this year. Might just be luck of the draw, since I don't go looking for stock car races.

The AC, again, actually seems to be working. I think it's the screen on the thermostat that's dead, so changing it is iffy. And 2-4 tomorrow isn't bad.

Now if that doesn't happen for some reason, then I'll consider it.

I'm crawling out pf my cave somewhat. Gonna try to actually train the knee back to functionality. Also finally giving up on Ride With GPS, after many multiples of bugs. Yesterday my max speed was 9.6 km/h, while average speed was 812 km/h. By the time it got translated by Strava, I could read it. So I'll just start with Strava. And I'm following (gasp!) one or two in my age group, to compare notes, so to speak. Winter is right around the corner, so to speak.
So to speak

On today's ride, I passed a guy who then passed me after the next light (I got to the light first so I had to do a full stop. He might have been able to coast through after it went green), and then 1/4 mile later I find myself rolling up on him, and he's doing JUST a tad below how fast I wanted to go, so I pass him, knowing that he's probably gonna hook onto me and let me pull him the next couple miles. C'est la vie. I was a good citizen and didn't ride through any holes or blow snot rockets, and I signaled stops and hazards. At the light where our paths diverged he complimented my bike (the Ritchey with the mixed 7410/7800 groupset), which was nice.

I think 55 miles today on top of 54 miles on Friday after ZERO miles for almost two weeks may have been overdoing it. It's like the opposite of hitting myself in the head with a brick - it felt good till I stopped.

Just back from exploring Santa Monica. All I want to do is have some fun, until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard.
