Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Buffalo the city, that is. Not buffalo droppings. Those would be worse.

I hear shade adds $50K to the value of a house.

A woman I know is leading a BCP ride from Blue Ball to Mt. Gretna in Lebanon County next weekend. I used to lead that ride after taking it over from the guy who designed it. Miss those days, except when it was 85 degrees at the start.

Rango the Greyhound, who's now 12 1/2, musta slept on his neck or shoulder funny, because when he woke up from his nap one of his many naps yesterday, he yiped and was really limping off his left front. He's a lot better now, but when this happens he gets really clingy, which is kind of a problem when I'm trying to get anything done around the house - I go back to the bedroom to get something, he follows me, then boxes me in so I have to get him to back up or turn around so I can get past him. He just wants me to sit on the floor and let him bury his head in my chest while I play his ribs like a xylophone.

We do a century every year out to Mt Gretna and back. It’s a good ride. Fun fact: my first Tri ever was there.

My day started with around 7 miles of gravel road plus another mile of steep and slick hike-a-bike earning around 2100’ of elevation gain.

Worth it:

I finished mowing my lawns and then finished the trimming of my bushes in the front of the house. I got done around noon but it was pretty hot and I was a little sweaty. It felt good to knock it out this weekend. Now I have to spray weed killer on the weeds on my hill and I'll be done for a while. Who knows, if I need disc replacement surgery I probably am done until next year.
Here's a picture of the hill in the winter without weeds.

Or she wakes up before dawn, goes out to the LR and watches TV to fall asleep, and I come out in the morning and the TV is on to the Hallmark Channel, because what's more soporific than made-for-TV movies with interchangeable plots and casts? In the evenings, we try to find something we both like, but the problem is, she doesn't like anything. It's not that she doesn't like anything I like. It's that she doesn't like anything. Well, that's maybe too harsh. She does like things, but then we binge them and once they're gone, they're gone.
I mentioned my tinnitus to my doc and she whipped up a prescription for it. I was no aware it was treatable,(without without drugs).

This crabon full squish has been languishing on CL for 23 days now. My lowball trigger finger is getting itchy.

Buffalo is a fine city, but winters have too much cold and snow for my taste.
